The U.S. won the first round of this four-day event, 4-2, over the span of six alternate shot matches.

The U.S. actually went 3-1-2 on the day with the lone loss coming from Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker, who were soundly beaten by the team of Adam Scott and K.J. Choi 7&6.

The Americans picked up victories from the teams of Hunter Mahan & David Toms, Phil Mickelson & Jim Furyk, and Bubba Watson & Webb Simpson to get three big points.

With the first day’s results, oddsmakers now have the United States as the favorite to win this event, giving the U.S. a money line of -175. The International Team now has odds of +125 to win the Presidents Cup.

The event continues tonight at 9 p.m. with six matches of four ball, which is where all four golfers play a ball and the individual with the best score on the hole wins that hole for his team.

The 2011 Presidents Cup is played at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia and will continue tonight and conclude on early morning on Sunday. For complete odds on the event including the matchup odds for tonight’s pairings, see below.
