KOHLER, WI (TheSpread) – After so many close calls in 2015 and previous years, Sunday was finally Jason Day’s time to become a major champion, as he won the PGA Championship.

Day was solid all weekend long and that continue on Sunday as he walked into the final round with a two shot lead and finished with a three-stroke victory. Day shot a 5-under 67 to finish at -20 for the tournament. He won the title by three shots over Jordan Spieth while Branden Grace was third at -15 and Justin Rose was -14 and finished fourth.

According to oddsmakers, Day entered this weekend with 14/1 odds to win this tournament, which means a wager of $100 on him will pay out an additional $1,400.

Though Spieth came up short of a third major in 2015, he did pick up a big accomplishment. His runner-up finish combined with a 17th-place finish for Rory McIlroy (-9), Spieth has now moved to No. 1 in the world golf rankings.
