Thompson gets first PGA victory
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (TheSpread) – Michael Thompson picked up his first PGA Tour victory on Sunday, as he held off Geoff Ogilvy to win the Honda Classic.
Thompson shot just a 1-under 69 on Sunday, but it was enough to finish the tournament at -9 overall, which was two shots of Ogilvy, who also shot a 69 on Sunday.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Thompson had 200/1 odds to win this event, which means a wager of $100 on him to prevail will pay out an additional $20,000.
Luke Guthrie had a chance to win on Sunday, but posted a 3-over 73 to finish the tournament at -5 overall, which was good enough for third place. Tiger Woods struggled all week, finishing 4 over for the tournament, which put him in a tie for 37th.
