Koepka gets first PGA victory
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (TheSpread) – Brooks Koepka put together a great Sunday and picked up his first PGA victory by winning the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Kopeka shot a 5-under 66 on Sunday to get to -15 for the tournament, which put him one shot ahead of Bubba Watson, Ryan Palmer and Hideki Matsuyama for the victory. Watson shot a 65 on Sunday to finish in second place. He was one of the favorites entering the tournament.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Koepka came into this tournament with 40/1 odds to win, which means a wager of $100 to win will pay out an additional $4,000.
Martin Laird was the leader entering Sunday’s final round, but he posted a 1-over 72 on Sunday to finish at -12 for the tournament and in a tie for fifth place. Jordan Spieth, another co-favorite entering the week, finished tied for seventh for the tournament at -11 after shooting a 65 on Sunday.
