Watson edges Lefty
LA JOLLA, CA (TheSpread) – Bubba Watson put forth his Sunday best to win the 2011 Farmers Insurance Open by one shot over Phil Mickelson. Watson shot a 5-under 67 on Sunday to finish at -16 for the tournament. A birdie on the 18th hole helped get the win as Mickelson needed an eagle on the final hole to force a playoff, but could only muster a birdie. According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Watson had 20/1 odds to win the event, meaning a $100 bet on Watson will pay out an additional $2,000. Watson finished three shots ahead of Dustin Johnson and last week’s winner Jhonattan Vegas, who both finished at 13-under par. Bill Haas entered the day tied for the lead with Mickelson, but shot a 3-over 75 on Sunday to finish at 9-under and tied for ninth place. 2011 PGA Farmers Insurance Open Top 10 Results 2 Phil Mickelson -15 (273) T3 Dustin Johnson -13 (275) T3 Jhonattan Vegas -13 (275) 5 D.A. 2011-02-01 14:51:22 |24.102.249.xxx| Bill Poretta - NEW BREED ON THE TOURI'm excited about watching golf again. The past few years, I and several people I know stopped watching on sunday. Especially the back nine. Whenever a golfer got in the lead or anywhere near it they couldn't hit the green with a wedge and couldn't make a put from four feet. It was like they were afraid to win, or knew they didn't have to. They could become multi-millionaires by coming in 5th. or 10th. I have been involved in golf since the early fifties. I remember when touring pros traveled four to a motor home to meet expenses, and even split the winnings.
