Baseball Betting: Streaks, Tips, Notes
Atlanta Braves at Chicago Cubs
When Brave's Julio Teheran trades pitches with Cubbies lefty Travis Wood in the finale of this three game set against Chicago the arrow clearly points towards taking the 'Under'. Braves have shown the 'Under' is a solid choice with Teheran facing a team with a losing record posting a 21-6-1 'Under'. Cubbies have shown a penchant towards the 'Under' at Wrigley Field with Woods going 15-7-3 'Under'. Braves 12-4-1 'Under' the past 17 on the road facing a southpaw starter, Cubbies 15-7-1 'Under' with Woods facing a team with a winning record the 'Under' cashes-in for the 15th time in 21 meetings on the North Side of Chicago.

Baseball Betting Preview Sunday, July 13
We're in the final day of the baseball season's first half. What a first half it's been with some great pitching led by Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers. There's also been a scoring issues due to the fact that teams are now going crazy with shifts. We'll preview a key matchup in the National League featuring two teams fighiting to finish the first half on a winning note. In the American League, the Baltimore Orioles will sit in first place after the first half, but they need a victory just to win their series against the injury-riddled New York Yankees.
Pittsburgh Pirates (49-45, 43-44 O/U) at Cincinnati Reds (50-44, 43-48 O/U)
Last game: (7/12/14): Pittsburgh over Cincinnati, 6-5 (11)
Key Betting Trends:
1-5 last 6 road games.
1-4 in Liriano's last 5 starts.
4-12 last 16 matchups on the under bet during game 3 of a series.
12-3 in Cueto's last 15 Sunday starts.
6-0 last 6 Sunday starts.
19-7 last 26 during game 3 of a series.
Pitching matchup: (LHP) Francisco Liriano (1-6, 4.60 ERA) vcs. (RHP) Johnny Cueto (9-6, 2.03 ERA)
Outlook: The rubber match of this series goes on Sunday with the Reds sending their best pitcher of the first half in Johnny Cueto. The Pirates have been inconsistent in the first half, and have won just twice of their last six games. They did get an important win on Saturday as All-Star center fielder Andrew McCutchen hit two home runs including one in the top of the 11th to give the Pirates the win. They'll need a big start from lefty Francisco Liriano, coming off the disabled list. He hasn't pitched since June 10 and his last start against the Reds, he gave up five runs in seven innings on April 21. Cueto has been lights out most of the year, thoughhe did allow two solo home runs in his last start on July 8 against the Chicago Cubs at home. He's been tremendous over his last three starts this year against Pittsburgh, allowing just three runs in three starts. MLB Betting Odds: Cincinnati is a -155-money line favorite. Total: 7.0.
New York Yankees (47-46, 42-50 O/U) at Baltimore Orioles (51-42, 42-49 O/U)
Last game: (7/12/14): New York Yankees (+133) over Baltimore, 3-0.
Key Betting Trends
NY Yankees are:
1-5 last 6 Sunday games.
4-1 last 5 on the road in series.
4-9 last 13 games on Sunday.
7-18-1 last 26 matchups on the under bet at home.
1-5 last 6 matchups on the under bet with Gausman against American League East.
Pitching Matchup: (RHP) Chase Whitley (4-2, 4.94 ERA) vs. (RHP) Kevin Gausman (3-2, 3.51 ERA)
Outlook: The Orioles have struggled on Sundays in years past because they normally go with reserves. Now, they could use a win after falling to the Yankees on Saturday, 3-0. The Yankees got a great pitching performance from Shane Greene and now they turn to another youngster in Chase Whitley. New York will play their final game of an 11-game road trip and have gone 6-4 in their last 10. Whitley has struggled lately, going 0-2 with a 14.81 ERA over his last three starts that sent him to the bullpen. He did pitch well against Cleveland in his last relief appearance, giving up no runs in two innings. He goes up against a potentially-dominant young hurler in Kevin Gausman. He struck out seven in his last start against Boston on July 6 and held them to one run in 5 1/3 innings. The Orioles have sent him back-and-forth to the minors to try and save his arm.

Yankees, O's wrap up series
New York Yankees (47-46) at Baltimore Orioles (51-42)
Sportsbook.ag Line and Total: Baltimore -155, New York +145, Total: 8.5
An AL East battle finishes up on Sunday night as the Yankees and Orioles play the final game before the All-Star break. This matchup has been extremely even over the past three seasons and coming into this series these clubs have split their last 50 games (25-25) while the Yankees are 12-11 in Baltimore. The Orioles won 3-2 on Friday and the Yankees captured a 3-0 decision last night.
This season, Baltimore has won five of the first eight encounters. The 'under' has gone 5-3 during this span.
The Yankees have struggled this season at getting past the .500 mark as 80% of their opening day roster is currently on the disabled list, with superstar rookie Masahiro Tanaka being the latest victim.
New York have split their last 10 games (5-5) coming into this series and sit four games behind the AL East leading Orioles. They most recently split four games in Cleveland to start the week and were unable to get a series win despite taking a 3-0 lead into the seventh inning on Thursday before losing 9-3.
OF Jacoby Ellsbury (.284) has been hot leading up to this series with four multi-hit performances in his last 10 games while also hitting two home runs (7 RBI) in that time.
Baltimore has been white-hot lately as they have taken a lead in the East division after coming away with a victory in eight of their last 10 games before Friday. They defeated their NL rivals, the Washington Nationals, in 2-of-3 games earlier this week as they pulled out a close 4-3 win on Thursday.
OF Steve Pearce (.322) hit his 11th homer of the year in the contest while OF Nelson Cruz (.291) added his league leading 74th RBI. Cruz has gone off in his last five games, compiling 12 hits in 23 at-bats (.522) with two home runs, six RBI and five runs.
New York has actually been a much better road team, going 29-23 in away games while Baltimore is just a few games above .500 (25-23) at home.
The starter for the Yankees will be rookie Chase Whitley (4-2, 4.94 ERA), who will be replacing Masahiro Tanaka on the hill. Tanaka went on the disabled list Wednesday and will miss at least six weeks due to a torn elbow ligament. Whitley is a converted reliever and will be facing Baltimore for the first time.
Whitley will have his work cut out for himi against a solid Orioles lineup. OF Nelson Cruz is tied for the lead league in HR (28) and has more RBI (74) than anyone else. Also, OF Steve Pearce has been amazing for the team as he has already compiled career highs in average (.322), HR (11) and RBI (31) while benefiting from some luck (.356 BABIP).
The trouble does not end there since 3B Manny Machado (.267) has gone 17-for-42 (.405) with five home runs, eight RBI and seven RBI over his last 10 games. One player that has not been able to live up to his high expectations has been 1B Chris Davis (.202) who has just five hits (.128) while striking out 17 times in his last 10 games played.
Prior to this series, the Yankees bullpen has gone 12-16 with a 3.91 ERA (1.31 WHIP) while successfully saving 30-of-42 (71%) games. David Robertson (2.84 ERA, 22 saves) has blown just two saves this year while striking out 57 batters in 31.2 innings on the mound (16.2 K/9).
Whitley will be opposed by Kevin Gausman (3-2, 3.51 ERA), who was brought up from the minors for the fifth time this season. Though Gausman has been up and down from the major league club, he's generally pitched very well in his six starts, allowing one or no runs in four of them. His most recent outing came last Sunday, when he went 5 1-3 innings and gave up one run and four hits with seven strikeouts in a 7-6, 12-inning win at Boston.
Gausman has faced the Yankees five times in relief, going 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA. New York roughed him up in the latest one, scoring three times in his one inning of work during its 7-5 road last September.
The Orioles’ relievers have combined to go 16-13 with a 3.44 ERA (1.25 WHIP) as they are 28-for-40 (70%) in save opportunities. Zach Britton (1.33 ERA, 15 saves) has two blown saves on the year while having an incredible 78.5% of batters hit groundballs with his nasty sinker.
