Baseball Betting Report
Another week of baseball is in the books, which means it's time for our weekly betting update.
Toronto Blue Jays one of the leagues hottest teams in the league reeling off 11-of-13 including a great week going 6-0 platting 5.17 runs/game while the pitching staff held opponents to 2.5 per/contest have barged into first place in the AL East at 29-22 stuffing +$724 into betting accounts.
St Louis Cardinals reeling off a 5-1 mark the past seven days, 9-2 the past eleven on the diamond have moved within 1 1/2 games of Milwaukee in the N.L. Central.
San Francisco on the strength of a 4-1 record the past seven days along with a sparkling 21-8 stretch have taken over top spot in the Majors at 32-18 rewarding backers with +$1380 at the betting window. San Francisco hosting lowly Cubbies who are 8-17 on the road hard to envision Giants falling out of top spot. However, Giants will be tested later in the week when they visit Cardinals for a four-game set in St Louis.
The defending champion Boston Red Sox can't buy a win losing all six this week and will enter the week on a 0-10 (-$1192) skid that has them bottom feeders in the A.L. East. A four-game set vs Atlanta on a 6-2 streak and another three game set vs Tampa who just swept them things could get uglier before they get better.
Detroit Tigers went 1-5 this past week crossing 4.5 per/game with the hurlers giving up a whopping 8.67 runs per contest. Taking on Oakland power bats (4.9 runs/game) and 2nd ranked pitching staff (2.9 ERA) it remains to be seen if Brad Ausmus' troops will right the ship soon.
Players that have wagered on a home favorite haven't faired well. They are 303-243 overall with betting accounts depleted to the tune of -$2687. A deadly spot for home faves is the -$1.50 to -$1.70 range as teams are 58-46 dropping -$1629 at the betting window. Interesting that big chalks of -$2.00 or more are 18-2 stuffing +$1337 into betting accounts.
Breaking numbers down by individual team. San Francisco has been a solid choice as home fave going 16-7 (+$665) with Boston (10-16, -$1147), Rays (12-12, -$538), Dodgers (8-10, -$758) fade material when home favorite.
Looking at home dogs, they've had little bite. D-Backs (3-9, -$515), Cinci (1-6, -$495) Mets (5-10, -$391) Texas (1-5, -$389) are some of the worst in the roll of home dog. What does catch the attention, Miami is 8-3 at Marlins Park as an underdog treating backers with a profitable +$603. However, dressed them up as road dog they're all bark no bite (6-14, -$619).

According to Baseball-Reference's Pythagorean Win-Loss record, the Oakland A's have been the "unluckiest" team in the American League. Based on their runs scored vs. allowed the A's should be 36-15 rather than 31-20 – which is still the best record in the AL.

The Royals are 24-26 overall but only 4-12 in 1-run games.
Despite having a right-handed heavy lineup, the San Francisco Giants are a MLB-best 20-11 vs. right-handed starters.
