Canadiens vs. Rangers
VegasInsider.com

Montreal vs. N.Y. Rangers

Series Price: Canadiens -120 Rangers +100
Game 1 Odds: Canadiens -125 Rangers +105
Game 1 Total: 5 (Over -120)

Exact Series Props:

4 Games Canadiens Win 10/1
4 Games Rangers Win 12/1
5 Games Canadiens Win 4/1
5 Games Rangers Win 6/1
6 Games Canadiens Win 5/1
6 Games Rangers Win 4/1
7 Games Canadiens Win 3/1
7 Games Rangers Win 9/2

How they got here:

The Canadiens swept the Lightning in the opening round, while needing seven games to knock out the top-seeded Bruins in the conference semifinals. The Habs racked up a 4-2 record on the road (all as an underdog), while posting a strong 4-1 mark at the Bell Center.

The Rangers went the distance twice to knock out a pair of Pennsylvania squads, beating the Flyers in seven games in the first round, followed by a 4-3 series triumph over the Penguins in the semifinals. New York and Philadelphia alternated wins and losses in the first round with the Rangers winning Game 7 at home, while rallying from a 3-1 series deficit to steal the final three games against the Metropolitan Division champion Penguins.

Season series review:

Goals were at a premium in three regular season matchups, as the two teams combined to score just four goals with all three games finishing with the losing team getting shut out. The Canadiens won two of three meetings, as Montreal captured a 2-0 victory at Madison Square Garden back in late October as a short underdog.

In the next two matchups at the Bell Center, the two teams split those contests with the Rangers picking up a 1-0 victory as a +120 underdog on November 16. Montreal outlasted New York in the final matchup in overtime, 1-0 last month as a -140 favorite. In both games in Montreal, the Rangers outshot the Canadiens by double-digits, while all three matchups finished well ‘under’ the total.

Playoff history:

This is the seventh time these Original Six teams are meeting in the postseason since expansion in 1967. The Canadiens finished off a fourth straight Stanley Cup title in the late 1970’s by beating the Rangers in five games. The last time these teams hooked up in the playoffs came back in 1996 when the Rangers eliminated the Habs in the conference quarterfinals in six games.

Montreal is in the conference finals for the first time since falling to the Flyers in five games, but the Habs made it that far as an eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. The Rangers qualified for the Eastern Conference Finals for the second time in three season, as New York lost to New Jersey in six games back in 2012.
