4 UNIT PLAY
Tampa Bay/ Seattle Over 6.5 (-110): In names alone, the pitching matchup would indicate a low scoring game, but I just don't see that happening here. David price has really struggled of late with a 5.63 ERA in his last 5 starts and he has a 4.24 ERA at night this year, with those games averaging 8.83 rpg. He does have a 3.80 ERA on the road, but still the pen is shaky behind him and his road starts have averaged 9 rpg on the year. The Seattle offense is really getting in gear right now, as they come in averaging 5 rpg in their last 10 games and just hung 12 runs on the Rays last night. Seattle has also averaged 4.65 runs per 9 off of lefties at home. Hisashi Iwakuma has always pitched well at home, but the Rays offense has been solid of late, scoring 4.5 rpg in their last 10 games and should be able to tag him for a few here. Both pens are pretty shaky as the Rays have a pen ERA of 5.17 on the road, while the Mariners have a pen ERA of 3.55 at home. This game won't put up 17 runs last last night, but i clearly see it flirting with at least 10 runs.
3 UNIT PLAYS
Cleveland/ Toronto Under 9 (-115): A couple of pitchers in good form right now, that have also had good success vs these teams of late, should lead to a low scoring game. Justin Masterson comes in with a 3.00 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP in his last 3 starts, while he has a 1.59 ERA in his last 5 starts vs the Blue Jays, including an 0.79 ERA in his last 2 starts in this park. R.A Dickey has been pitching well of late as he has not allowed more 3 ER's in each of his last 4 starts, while posting a 2.89 ERA in his last 3 starts. R.A also has a 2.55 ERA in his last 4 starts vs the Tribe, with those games averaging just 7.3 rpg. The Under is 8-2 in Masterson's last 10 road starts and the Under is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings between these teams. I can see another low scoring game in this one.
Atlanta/ San Francisco Over 7 (-120): I had this play last night and it nearly got to 7 for the Push. Well tonight I expect it to get over the 7 for the win. I know Vogelsong has been pitching well of late, but this Braves offense is well overdue to break out and they have hit lefties at a .273 clip on the road this year. we also note that Ryan has struggled some with the Braves, especially at home where he has a 7.59 ERA in 2 career starts vs them. Mike minor has mad two starts this year and has been shaky as he comes in with a 6.97 ERA in those games so far. This will be his first start of the year on the road and he has a career 4.34 ERA away from home and in his last 3 starts vs the Giants he has a 4.33 ERA. The Giants have hit .252 and have scored 4.46 runs per 9 off of lefties at home and should put up decent runs vs Minor in this one. The Over is 6-2 the last 8 meeting in San Francisco and I see that trend continuing here.
2 UNIT PLAYS
Washington -131 over ARIZONA: Stephen Strasburg has been pitching very well of late, with 2-0 mark and an 0.89 ERA in his last 3 starts. he has also pitched well vs the D-Backs in his career, going 2-0 with a 2.16 ERA in 4 career starts vs them. Both wins have come in this park. Bronson Arroyo has also pitched well of late, going 2-0 with an 0.87 ERA in his last 3 starts, but his is 0-1 with an 8.36 ERA in 3 starts at home this year and he is 0-3 with a 5.70 ERA in his last 5 starts vs the Nationals. Arizona is just 3-16 at home and while that will balance out a bit more as the season goes on, I just don't see it starting tonight.
Philadelphia/ LA Angels Over 7.5 (-120): Yes Cliff lee is on the mound and yes his home games have been low scoring (5.67 rpg), but still I feel that we can get to at least 8 runs in this one. Cliff is not pitching all that well right now, as he has a 4.66 ERA in his last 3 starts and the Halo's hit .303 on the road vs lefties and score 5.37 rpg on the road overall. The Phils offense not clicking all that much of late, but still they .254 and score 3.86 runs per 9 off of righties at home and should be able to tag Matt Shoemaker for a few here. The Over is 15-6-2 in Phillies last 23 home games, while the Over is 6-1-1 in the Halo's last 8 interleague games. Both trends should continue here.
Re: Free Picks: Service Plays for Tuesday, May 13
Chicago’s hockey franchise has been building a powerhouse ever since the first season (2009) that Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews have been playing together. In the past six years Chicago has WON all SEVEN postseason series where they were tied with the opposition through four-games. The Blackhawks record in games five-and-six of a postseason series is UNDEFEATED (13-0) if they were even with the opposition through the initial four contests. The veteran Blackhawks have constantly achieved in this spot of the playoffs due to personnel who are confident, poised and relaxed. For those who have followed Minnesota through the opening round of the playoffs they were able to upset a #1 seeded opponent, but it was against a Colorado contingent that was vastly “inexperienced” as to the pressure of postseason play. The Blackhawks obviously have much more experience as opposed to the Avalanche and are on the verge of advancing to yet another “conference” championship series
