3 UNIT PLAY

Toronto/ Brooklyn Under 191: When a series is tied games 3, 5 & 7 are big games and those games tend to go be a bit lower scoring. Toronto has played solid defense on the road this year, where they have allowed just 97.3 ppg and they have allowed just 94.7 ppg in their last 3 games overall. The Nets offense put up 10.6 ppg at home this year, but right now they are not scoring a whole lot, averaging just 93.8 ppg in their last 5 games overall. The Raptors are a decent offensive team, but have scored just 93 ppg in their last 3 games and the Nets have allowed just 97.3 ppg on their home floor this year. Let's also note that the Under is 10-2 in the Nets last 12 home games following a road trip of 7 or more days. Mid to lower 180's at best here.

2 UNIT PLAY

Washington/ Chicago Under 183: The first two games went over the total in rather high scoring games, at least from the Bulls standpoint and now they find themselves down 2-0 in the series. The Bulls are not a team that has allowed more than 100 points all season, but they did so in the first 2 games of the series and you can bet that Coach T has been preaching defense during their days off. During the regular season the Bulls allowed 100+ points just 15 time and in the next game after that they allowed just 89.7 ppg. The Bulls haven't allowed 100+ points in 3 straight games all year and the last 6 times during the regular season that they allowed 100+ points, they gave up just 86.3 ppg. This team is built on defense and that is the only way they will get back in the series, so you can bank on a much tougher Bulls defense tonight. Chicago only score 92.9 ppg on the road and the Wizards allowed 98.3 ppg at home, plus they have given up just 91.9 ppg in their last 13 games overall. Let's also note that the Under is 17-5-1 in the last 23 meetings between these teams at Washington. This one should be grinder, with no more than 175 points being scored.

LA Dodgers -145

We have made nice coin by backing the Rockies at home, where they are 8-4, scoring 90 runs in 12 games. Likewise, we look to play against Colorado on the road, as once again this year, they offer the biggest home/road dichotomy in MLB. In going 4-7 away, they have scored just 38 runs for only 3.4 RPG. In a pair of road starts, Lyles has been a microcosm of those issues. Working 10 IP at Miami and weak hitting San Diego, Lyles has allowed 7 runs on 11 hits for a 6.30 ERA. In his lone start vs. the Dodgers, Lyles lasted 5 1/3 IP, allowing 7 runs on 7 hits for an 11.81 ERA. Those performances far belie his YTD record of 3-0 with a 3.04 ERA. Far prefer Josh Beckett following a pair of solid starts. In his last two outings, Beckett has worked 10 IP without allowing an earned run on just 3 hits with 11Ks. Playing at home against Colorado should wake up an LAD offense that has scored just 29 runs in their L10G.

Chicago Bulls +5

The season is all but on the line for Chicago tonight as a loss would have them down 0-3 in the best of seven series after they dropped both home games. What was surprising about those two home losses was that the Bulls blew fourth quarter double digit leads in both games. Credit Washington and coach Randy Whitman for taking advantage of what Chicago gave them down the stretch included a play-not-to-lose approach by Chicago coach Tom Thibadeaux when it came to running the offense over the latter part of the fourth quarter. Still, the Bulls have some matchup edges and have played solid defense all season. The Wizards may have Chicago's number, however, as they are 4-1 SU vs Chicago (3-2 ATS). Chicago's lone win did come in their final regular season meeting on April 5, and was on this court, 96-78. Chicago did prove at home they could control most of the game against the Wizards and build a double digit lead (although they also trailed by 17 early in game two). Now they have to prove then can beat the Wizards in the end game. With their season likely hanging in the balance taking the trey is an attractive option.
