This Saturday night on Fox, the UFC gives us a key fight in the lightweight division between former champion Benson Henderson and former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson. Henderson is the favorite, at odds of about -280 around Las Vegas, with Thomson taking back about +220.

UFC on Fox 10 is set for the United Center in Chicago at 8 p.m. ET.

Thomson (20-5) was able to stop Nate Diaz in his last fight, which earned him a title shot with Anthony Pettis, but Pettis injured his knee in training and had to withdraw. That was a bad break for Thomson, who will now have to pull the upset over Henderson to get back his title shot. A loss, on the other hand, could drop him pretty far down the stacked 155-pound division.

Henderson (19-3) was on quite a roll before losing his title to Pettis in his last fight via submission by armbar. Before that loss, Henderson had wins over Diaz, Gilbert Melendez and back-to-back close decisions over former champion Frankie Edgar (one split, one unanimous).

One thing you can count on with Henderson is his superior cardio and his ability to make 155 pounds so well. Henderson always seems to have a decided size advantage by fight time, which plays well into his tremendous wrestling – once he gets an opponent down, it’s very hard for the opponent to get back up, and Henderson usually does a lot of damage from inside his adversary's guard.

Thomson looked like a new fighter, though, in his last fight with Diaz, as he was able to finish him with head kicks and punches. Henderson needed a decision to beat Nate.

Both of these fighters are well rounded and seem pretty evenly matched, so I could easily see this fight going pretty long and even to a decision.

For betting purposes, I have to look at the underdog in a fight that’s this even and one either fighter can win. I’ll take a shot with Thomson getting over 2-to-1, and I’m looking forward to what should be a fast- paced, action-filled bout between two solid lightweights.
