When former American Leaguer Scott Feldman toes the slab for the Cubs at Citi Field against the Mets Saturday afternoon he will do so knowing he is in great KW form with 21 strikeouts and 3 walks in his last five starts. On the flip side his opponent, Jonathon Niese, has dropped five of his last six home team starts and two of three career team starts while compiling a 7.67 ERA at home against the Cubs. With Niese just 3-5 under the sun this season look for more of the same this afternoon. We recommend a 1-unit play on the Cubs.

You won't find the Seattle Mariners as underdogs very often when Felix Hernandez is on the mound. Hernandez has a 1.96 ERA in his 8 road starts. He is 5-2 in those games and has 54 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched. He should have a big game against an Oakland team that is batting .207 over their past 7 games and scoring just 3.7 runs per game.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
With two offenses that do not score a lot of runs there is a strong advantage with the better pitched. AJ Griffin is 5-5 in 13 starts this season and while his numbers are respectable he does come close to comparing to Hernandez. Go with the Mariners today as this line presents too much value to pass up.

Chicago has won 19 of 24 after scoring 4 or more goals and 18 of 25 off 3+ wins. In home games where the total is 5 or less they have won 17 of the last 21. Game 2 home teams as seen in the grid below are 36-16 when winning game one, good for 69%.When leading a best of 7 NHL playoff series 1-0 the Chicago Blackhawks have a 21-8 series record and a 17-12 Game 2 record. When trailing a best of 7 NHL playoff series 1-0, the Boston Bruins have a 13-32 series record and a 17-28 Game 2 record. Chicago has the best defense and 2nd best offense in the League this season. The only thing that keeps this game from getting unit rated is the 2-7 record of the last 9 teams who have won a Triple Overtime game. Chicago should play better here and may not need to score 2 late goals just to get the game to over time. For Boston this game may come back to haunt them if this series goes the distance as game one could be the game that's winds up costing then the series. Chicago has better numbers and they are the choice to take game 2.

Torono's starter R.A. DICKEY held the Giants to two hits over 8 1/3 scoreless innings June 5. That is the kind of game he is capable of pitching. He was roughed up in his last against the White Sox on Monday. The excuse is legitimate. He was fighting dense fog at U.S. Cellular Field and that could be why he struggled. A return today of his form 2 back makes last year's NL Cy Young Award winner very tough.

JOSH LINDBLOM is making his third start for the Rangers since being called up from Triple A. He was was 6-0 with a 2.04 ERA at Triple-A Round Rock. He posted a quality start Monday against the Indians, striking out six in six innings.

The M's are showing value at this price with ace Felix Hernandez on the hump. He's been lights out on the road where he's 5-2 with an ERA of 1.96. That's far superior to the 3.37 ERA Oakland's A.J. Griffin is carrying at home. King Felix has an outstanding track record against the A's. He's 14-6 (18-9 on the money line) with an ERA of 2.70 in 27 starts against them. The Mariners are 17-6 in Hernandez's last 23 starts versus the Athletics, including 5-1 in his last 6 road starts against them. I'll get behind the proven Hernandez in this battle.

Art Aronson

Arizona vs. San Diego
Play: Over 8

Wade Miley (4-5, 4.89 ERA) gets the call for the visitors; Miley gave up nine hits and three runs over six innings of work vs. the soft-hitting Dodgers on Monday, striking out four and walking two in the no-decision. The southpaw has been pretty unremarkable this season and enters this contest with a pedestrian 3-3, 4.21 ERA record on the road. Miley will be opposed by Clayton Richard (1-5, 8.06 ERA) who luckily escaped with a no-decision vs. the Rockies on Sunday, giving up four runs off eight hits with a walk and three K's over six-innings of action. The beleaguered lefty has now given up 10 runs over his last 10 1/3's frames of work and has not won in the month of June. Unfortunately, a date at home is not what the doctor ordered for Richard who owns a deplorable 1-2, 6.38 ERA record in five appearances at Petco Park. A couple of inconsistent "gas cans" facing off; consider a second look at the "over" in this one.

Clayton Kershaw (5-4, 1.88) doesn't have a lot of wins but he will get one here against this bad Pittsburgh offense, one ranked in the bottom 10 in runs, batting averaging, on base percentage and slugging. Kershaw has allowed 70 hits in 100 innings and fanned 96. The Dodgers are 18-8 in their last 26 vs. National League Central and face a Pittsburgh team with all kinds of pitching problems as A.J. Burnett was put on to the 15-day disabled list Thursday because of a strained right calf. Play the LA Dodgers.

Strategy of backing Royals till they lose is working like a charm and paying off like an ATM gone haywire. Toughest challenge today as they face Alex Cobb who will no doubt be motivated upon his return from bereavement leave. But with KC again catching a generous price, I'll stay with the program and will back the Royals again.

After slumping toward the end of May, Kansas City has turned around its fortunes and then some, winning nine of its last ten to pull back within sight of the Tigers in the AL Central. Along the way, the Royals have continued their dominance over Tampa Bay, beaten again by a 7-2 count last night and now having been outscored 34-13 while losing four straight to KC this season. Just as fellow Rays starer Matt Moore has been struggling in recent outings, so might be Alex Cobb, who was drilled when allowing six runs in the first inning of his last start vs. the Red Sox last Monday. As for KC starter Jeremy Guthrie, he seems back on track with a 2.43 ERA in his last three outings.

The Braves lost last night's series opener at home against the Giants, with Madison Bumgarner tossing seven scoreless frames and striking out 10. An injury to Ryan Vogelsong has opened the door for Chad Gaudin to step into the rotation, and so far the 30 year old relief pitcher has made the most of his opportunity. He'll be looking for his third straight victory as a starter opposite Mike Minor today.

Here are my keys to the game:FOR FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
1: Mike Minor - He's won five straight decisions, and the Braves have won each of his last seven starts. Minor allowed just one run on six hits over six innings in an 8-1 victory over the Dodgers in L.A. his last time out. The 25 year old has enjoyed success against the Giants in the past, posting a record of 2-0 with a 1.93 ERA in three starts. Minor is having an excellent season, and he hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in seven straight starts, giving him a much longer track record of success than his opponent today.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
2: Chad Gaudin - The 30 year old relief pitcher is 2-0 as a starter, and those wins have come against tough teams on the road. This is still just two games though, and there are concerns about his track record against the Braves. While he's only faced them as a reliever, he's appeared in eight games, allowing 11 runs on 18 hits over 10 1/3 innings. He's also posted a losing record both on the road, and in afternoon games over the past three seasons.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
3: X-Factor - Dan Uggla is 4-for-12 lifetime versus Gaudin, but three of those four hits were for extra-bases, and two were home runs.

My clients and I won with this identical play at virtually the same price point last night, and we'll go right back to the well on Saturday afternoon.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Royals remain one of the hottest teams in baseball, but thanks to their awful May, they're still flying well beneath the radar in the betting marketplace. Kansas City has now won nine of its last 10 games overall and enters Saturday's contest having scored a whopping 17 runs in the first two games of this series.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Rays are headed in the opposite direction. They've lost three games in a row and five of their last six overall after looking like they were ready to turn the corner last week.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
While the Royals remain just 15-17 on the road this season, it's worth noting that they're 23-9 when factoring in the +1.5 run-line, which we will use to our advantage again on Saturday. I tend to do that with the Royals, largely due to the fact I have little faith in their manager, Ned Yost, making the right decisions in tight ball games. But that's another story for another day.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Jeremy Guthrie gets the call for Kansas City on Saturday. He's been pitching well lately, allowing two earned runs or less in three consecutive starts. I like the consistency he's shown, as he's worked at least six innings in 12 of his 13 starts this season. He may not be missing many bats, but pitching to contact has worked with the defense behind him, and he's done a nice job of keeping the ball in the park lately, giving up just one home run over his last three outings after being tagged for eight in a three-start stretch.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Alex Cobb will counter for the Rays. He ran into a brick wall in his last start, tagged for seven hits and six earned runs over four innings in an eventual 10-8 loss to the Red Sox on Monday. That's the type of poor result that can linger for a young pitcher. Note that the Royals have had Cobb's number, roughing him up for 23 hits and 12 earned runs over 13 2/3 innings in his last two starts against them. The Royals won both of those games by a combined 16-2 margin.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Royals bullpen has been lights out lately, posting a collective 0.36 ERA over their last 10 games after slamming the door shut again last night. While the Rays 'pen has been solid lately, the fact is, they've struggled for much of the year at home, recording an ERA north of four. Take Kansas City +1.5 runs

The Mariners upset the A's in last night's series opener, as Oakland continued to struggle at the plate. The A's have scored just five runs over their last two games (27 innings) after defeating the Yankees 3-2 in an 18 inning marathon on Thursday night.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
Facing Felix Hernandez tonight certainly isn't going to help, Felix is coming off another fantastic performance in a losing effort in his last start. Hernandez (7-4, 2.49 ERA) allowed just one run on five hits over seven innings in a 2-1 loss to the Yankees, not factoring in the decision.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
He likes pitching on the West Coast, and Oakland is no exception. Felix is 5-2 with a 2.78 ERA in his last 12 starts versus the A's, and he's 2-0 with a 3.30 ERA in his last six visits to Oakland.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
A.J. Griffin will get the nod for the home team, and he's 0-2 in his last three starts. Griffin (5-5, 3.78 ERA) allowed four runs on seven hits, including a pair of home runs in a 4-2 loss to Chicago (one of the worst teams in the majors) in his last start. He's only produced one quality start in his last four outings, and he's going to need to be a whole lot better opposite Felix tonight.
FOR THE LARGEST SELECTION OF FREE SERVICE PLAYS VISIT THESPREAD.COM
The Mariners are terrible offensively, but Griffin hasn't been sharp lately, and we are getting them as a dog with their ace on the mound.

BRAD WILTON

Free play winner tonight is a pitcher's duel between Hernandez and Griffin, and the Under in the M's-A's

Last night's series opener was a 3-2 final, as the teams played their 3rd straight series Under.

Seattle has now been Under the total in 8 straight, while Oakland has played Under in 6 of 7, and 8 of their last 10.

Felix Hernandez is the owner of a 2.49 season ERA, and 8 of his 12 starts have ended up playing Under the total.

A.J. Griffin's last 3 starts, and 7 of his last 8 starts overall have ended up playing Under the total.

Hard to ignore those numbers I just listed, so look for another game in which the goose eggs pile up on the scoreboard, and the Under between the Mariners and Athletics comes through once again.

3* SEATTLE-OAKLAND UNDER

Re: Free Picks: Service Plays for Saturday, June 15

CHRIS JORDAN

For a second-straight night my free play is on the Angels of Anheim, getting it done over the struggling, and presumably weary, New York Yankees. With last night's loss at the Big A, the Bombers have now lost four in a row, and this is about to get real dangerous for the pinstripes.

After Thursday night's disappointing loss in extra innings to the Oakland Athletics, the Yankees were vividly out of it, and had no momentum whatsoever for the series-opener. Now, for tonight, in a game that starts later in the day, I think the Bombers are going to be on auto-pilot and are looking forward to ending this road trip and getting back to the Bronx.

I know New York came into this series having won five of its nine meetings with the Angels last season, but that's not going to make a difference this season, and/or, right now.

After last night's win by the Angels, the home team has now won six of the last eight meetings. And since the Angels are catching a Yankees team that will be playing its ninth road game in 10 days - a trip that has spanned Seattle, Oakland and now Anaheim - I love the value with the Halos here.

Trust me here, this is the perfect spot to take the Angels.

5* ANAHEIM

Re: Free Picks: Service Plays for Saturday, June 15

BRETT ATKINS

My free winner for Saturday night is with out of American League Central division action, as I like the Minnesota Twins plus the big price to get it done over the Detroit Tigers. And with this game, I want you listing both Samuel Deduno and Anibal Sanchez, as it's imperative they both go against one another for this to be a play.

These two hurlers met last month, on May 24, in Deduno's season debut, which resulted in his only loss of the season. The fiery Dominican right-hander lasted 5-1/3 innings, but only after he was pummeled for six earned runs on nine hits and three walks. After that game he ERA was a whopping 10.13. Now, after four starts overall - three of them on the road - he is 2-0 since then, has surrendered three earned runs on 14 hits and seven walks over 18 innings of work for a 1.50 ERA in those games. For the season his ERA is now 3.47.

Deduno might have gotten the win in his last start, but National League rules worked against him on Sunday, against the Washington Nationals in Interleague play. Due up in the sixth inning, Deduno - who has just one major league at-bat during his career - was pinch-hit for in a key situation and ended up with just five innings to his record. He allowed only three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks, but got the no-decision.

Tonight he'll be out to avenge the no-decision, and out for revenge against the Tigers for May 24, when Sanchez fired a one-hit, complete-game shutout, striking out 12 and walking three. The game made national headlines after Sanchez was trying to become 28th pitcher to have multiple no-hitters, but fell short when he left a breaking ball over the plate with one out in the final inning, and Joe Mauer stroked a line drive through the middle.

Mauer is hitting .417 in 12 at-bats against the right-hander, so he will be hopes for leading the offensive charge.

Thus, there's also a little revenge on the brain for the rest of the Twins, who I'm sure would love to hit the right-hander hard and often today. I think it'll happen, because I don't think the right-handed Venezuelan is fully recovered from an injury that kept him from his last scheduled start, last Sunday, when he was suffering from muscle stiffness in his upper back near his throwing shoulder.

So there ya have it, my free play is on a major underdog today, and it makes for a nice complement to my 75-Dime Underdog Shocker Game of the Year. Take the Twins and list both pitchers, Sanchez and Deduno.

Re: Free Picks: Service Plays for Saturday, June 15

SCOTT DELANEY

My free pick is a frozen one, as I look to the Stanley Cup Finals to improve on this complimentary pick winning streak. If you watched Game 1 the other night, you saw the Chicago Blackhawks survive all the Boston Bruins' close calls in the extra periods.

The Eastern Conference champs had plenty of opportunities, but couldn't get the puck in the net. Nathan Horton hit the post in the first extra session, and Zdeno Chara’s slap shot deflected off Jaromir Jagr and then the inside of the right post just before the second overtime came to a close.

Midway through the third overtime period, Boston forward Kaspars Daugavins had the puck in Chicago's goal crease, but couldn't gain control of the puck to stuff it in the half-empty goal.

Fact is, Chicago goalie Corey Crawford - the No. 1 goalie in the NHL - had things go his way in Game 1, and I just don't see that much good fortune showering down a second-straight game. Crawford - who made 54 saves in the game, including 29 in the three overtime periods - is only facing the Bruins for the second time, as the teams didn't meet during the strike-shortened regular season. And quite frankly I don't think that favors him.

I've been saying this since the end of Game 1, but if one of those close calls went into the net, I'm not sure the Blackhawks would be able to answer the call tonight. I think Boston is more resilient, and will be pissed after the series-opener, and not necessarily down.

The Bruins, who are on a 6-2 run against Central Division teams, would do themselves a big favor by stealing Game 2. Unlike the series that is tied in the NBA, which has employed a 2-3-2 format, the skaters' schedule is 2-2-1-1-1. So with a win tonight, the Bruins put themselves in a very good position, heading home for Games 3 and 4 on Monday and Wednesday.

I know the 'Hawks are on an 8-1 run against the Eastern Conference, but Boston goalie Tuukka Rask is no joke either, ranking No. 2 behind Crawford. So there is plenty of pride when you talk about this game and what took place in the first game and how much Rask wants to dominate.

I like the value I'm getting with the price on the Bruins.

3* BOSTON

We won with Miami last night and I feel there is once again incredible value on the Marlins tonight. They improved to 7-5 over their last 12 games following the victory last night including win in five of their last seven games at home. Pitching has been the problem in those five overall losses as they have allowed six runs or more each time out but we should not see that today with Tom Koehler on the hill. While he is still winless on the season, his numbers do not reflect that as he has a 3.91 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through six starts and he has been even more impressive at home with a 2.00 ERA and 0.83 WHIP in two starts. Both resulted in losses as his offense did nothing to help him out and while that will be a challenge tonight, the bats have started to pick things up. The Cardinals fell to 24-12 on the road which is still the best road record in baseball so expect people to be lining up behind them again tonight even at this outrageous price. Lance Lynn has a lot to do with it as he is having a great season, going 8-1 with a 3.00 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 13 starts. He is coming off a rough outing last time out which also came on the road and Miami is a solid 5-1 in their last six games against starters with a WHIP less than 1.15 while going 5-2 in its last seven home games against right-handed starters.

The Astros are showing value at home against a Chicago club that has dropped 10 of 11 on the road and 5 straight as chalk. Houston has won 6 of its last 8 versus the White Sox and is in solid position to build on this run considering it is 5-1 in its last 6 home games versus clubs with a road winning percentage below .400. Houston's Harrel is in top form with an ERA of 1.83 over his last 3 starts. Chicago's Danks has a 4.00 ERA over his last 3 starts and is 0-2 with a 6.30 ERA on the road.
