Three Streaking Pitchers Worth a Look On The Road Saturday
By Covers.com

Saturday's MLB schedule features a few starters that maybe didn't get off to the best starts in the 2013 season, but might just be turning things around lately. Here is a rundown of some guys on the hill Saturday that have had some recent success on the road.

Brandon Morrow, Toronto Blue Jays (1-2, 4.69 ERA)

The Jays righty seems to be coming around after a slow start to the season. Morrow has pitched very well in his last three outings with the Jays, victorious in all three. He won his last road start versus the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 6-5. Morrow went 6 1/3 innings giving up three earned runs along the way.

The righty takes the hill against the New York Yankees Saturday. Morrow was roughed up by the Yankes earlier in the year giving up five earned runs in 5 1/3 innings.

Brandon McCarthy, Arizona Diamondbacks (0-3, 5.62 ERA)

McCarthy is still winless on the season but the Diamondbacks have won the last two games he has started away from home. McCarthy lasted 6 1/3 innings giving up just three earned runs in his last road start versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is also coming off his best pitching performance of the season, going eight strong innings with no earned runs versus the Philadlphia Phillies.

McCarthy takes the hill versus the lowly Miami Marlins Saturday.

Marco Estrada, Milwaukee Brewers (3-2, 5.32 ERA)

The Brew Crew have won three of Estrada's last four starts away from Miller Park and he's given them some quality performances in those games. His last start, on the road in Pittsburgh, was his best of the season. He went seven innings giving up one earned run en route to the 5-1 victory.

Milwaukee is on the road to face the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday. Estrada went six innings in his last start at Busch Stadium. The Brewers won 4-3 but he did not factor in the decision.

Seattle Mariners at Cleveland Indians

The Indians and Mariners play the second of their four game series at Progressive Field Saturday afternoon. Indians winning the opener 6-3 pounding out 2 jacks, 7 hits have now won 15-of-19 on the diamond plating 6.1 runs/game stuffing a whopping +$2304 into betting accounts. As for Mariners, they're 2-2 on this current nine game road swing and have won 11 of it's last 17 games crossing 4.4 per/game handing backers +$653 at the betting window. Today's pitching matchup has Zach McAllister for Cleveland with southpaw Joe Saunders toeing the rubber for Seattle. McAllister on a roll is 2-0 with a 1.74 ERA the past three on the mound, Saunders is 2-1 with a 4.43 ERA his last three on the hill. An interesting baseball betting trend to keep in mind, the Seattle lefty is 0-4 with a 12.54 ERA in four road games with his new club as opposed to 3-0 with a 0.94 ERA in four games at Safeco Field. The betting market is expecting another Cleveland win today as Indians are between -$1.60 to -$1.75 favorite depending on local with the total set at 8.5. Thinking total, the teams are 9-1-1 'Over' last 11 meetings in Cleveland, Tribe are 8-1 'Over' last 9 as home fave w/McAllister, Mariners are on an 8-2-2 'Over' stretch as a road underdog of +110 to +150.

The Rockies and Giants are set to square off in Game 3 of their important four-game series on Saturday, and if the first two contests are any indication, bettors can expect plenty of runners to cross the plate.

Coors Field has seen an average of 9.9 runs per game, so Saturday's TOTAL of 10 is right in line what we're used to. But considering that 14 and 19 runs, respectively, have been scored in the first two games between these teams this week, that number seems to offer good value to bettors. It's even more tantalizing when you factor in that both teams had their top two pitchers -- Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner for San Francisco and Jhoulys Chacin and Jorge de la Rosa for Colorado -- on the mound in those games.

Tim Lincecum and recent Triple-A call-up Tyler Chatwood get the call tonight. Lincecum threw seven shutout innings in his last start, but he allowed five runs apiece in his two starts before that. Chatwood has made two starts this year, allowing five runs (four earned) in one and zero in the other. It's worth noting that his six shutout innings came on the road.

Since last Sunday (six games), the Rockies have averaged 6.2 runs per game; the Giants (five games) have averaged 7.8. All signs point to the OVER in this one.

Saturday's selections:

SF/COL OVER 10 (-110)

Mets (Hefner) +130 at Cubs

Blue Jays (Morrow) +120 at Yankees

Red Sox (Dempster) -125 at Twins

Tigers (Sanchez) -123 at Rangers

Royals (Santana) +118 at A's

Season to date record: 78-67 (+1298)
