Kings at Ducks: What Bettors Need to Know
By Covers.com

Los Angeles Kings at Anaheim Ducks (-130, 5)

The Los Angeles Kings try to maintain their hold on home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs when they visit the Pacific Division-leading Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. Los Angeles climbed one point ahead of the idle San Jose Sharks for fourth place in the Western Conference with a 4-1 home triumph over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. The victory put the Kings within eight points of Anaheim for the top spot in the Pacific with 10 games remaining for each team - including a pair of head-to-head battles.

While the Kings have gone 5-1-1 over their last seven games, the Ducks have struggled of late, winning just three of their last nine contests (3-5-1). After beginning a rare three-game series against Dallas with a pair of victories, Anaheim failed to complete the sweep, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Stars at home on Friday. The Ducks still have a chance for the Presidents' Trophy as they trail the league-leading Chicago Blackhawks by five points.

ABOUT THE KINGS (22-13-3): Jonathan Quick posted his 144th career victory on Saturday, putting him one behind Kelly Hrudey for second place on the franchise list. Rogie Vachon is the Kings' all-time leader with 171 wins. Jeff Carter scored his 22nd goal against the Oilers. He trails league leader Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning by three tallies. Saturday's goal was Carter's league-high seventh game-winner, moving him one ahead of Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk. Carter also notched a rare assist - his fifth.

ABOUT THE DUCKS (25-8-5): Anaheim could be without its captain Sunday as Ryan Getzlaf is listed as questionable with a leg injury. Getzlaf, who leads the Ducks in goals (13), assists (30) and points (43), was hurt in Wednesday's victory over Dallas and missed Friday's home meeting with the Stars. "No one wants to play more than Ryan, but at this stage, we want to be 100 percent," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "We don't want anything to linger on. So as big a game as we think this one is on Sunday, we want to make sure Ryan's ready to play the rest of the season."

TRENDS:

* Over is 4-0 in the last four meetings.
* Under is 5-1 in Ducks’ last six overall.
* Ducks are 1-4 in their last five home games.
* Kings are 5-1 in their last six games playing the second half of a back-to-back.

OVERTIME

1. Los Angeles is 101-1-11 in its last 113 games when leading after two periods.

2. Ducks G Jonas Hiller should be ready to face the Kings after sitting out Friday's game with an illness.

3. The home team has won five of the last six games in the all-time series.
