Ducks at Blackhawks: What Bettors Need to Know
By Covers.com

Anaheim Ducks at Chicago Blackhawks (-162, 5.5)

The Chicago Blackhawks are hoping a return to the Windy City does not stop their momentum as they begin a seven-game homestand against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday. The last remaining team without a regulation loss, Chicago is back in familiar surroundings following a 4-0-2 road trip that concluded Sunday with a fourth straight victory, a 3-0 triumph over the Nashville Predators. The Blackhawks, who have played a league-low two home contests thus far, are five away from setting the NHL record for most games without a regulation loss to start a season.

The current mark is held by Anaheim, which began its 2006-07 championship campaign with a 12-0-4 run before suffering a 3-0 loss to the Calgary Flames. The Ducks are off to a strong start themselves this abbreviated season and enter Tuesday having won five of their last six contests. They improved to 2-1-0 on their six-game road trip with a 6-5 shootout triumph Saturday over the St. Louis Blues in which Teemu Selanne and Bobby Ryan recorded four points apiece.

ABOUT THE DUCKS (8-2-1): The 42-year-old Selanne's four-point performance was his second in 22 days as he also accomplished the feat on Jan. 19 at Vancouver. The "Finnish Flash" is one of only three players in league history who have registered at least four points in a game at the age of 42 or older. Detroit's Gordie Howe (42 years, 326 days) notched four points against Buffalo on Feb. 20, 1971 and Pittsburgh's Tim Horton did the same on Jan. 15, 1972 versus Philadelphia. Selanne's team-leading 14-point total is his highest through the first 11 games of a season since he also recorded 14 with Winnipeg in 1995-96 at the age of 25.

ABOUT THE BLACKHAWKS (10-0-2): Patrick Kane, who extended his goal-scoring streak to five games against Nashville, was named the NHL's First Star for the week ending Sunday. The 24-year-old recorded five goals and an assist in three contests and has notched at least one point in all but one game this season. Kane, who has nine tallies and 19 points, is two goals and four points behind league leader Thomas Vanek of Buffalo. Captain Jonathan Toews reached a milestone Sunday, scoring his 150th career goal. Corey Crawford posted his sixth career shutout and first since 2010-11 by making 17 saves. Crawford faced only three shots in the first period and four in the second.

TRENDS:

* Under is 7-1 in the last eight meetings.
* Under is 5-0 in Blackhawks’ last five home games.
* Under is 5-0 in the last five meetings in Chicago.
* Blackhawks are 8-1 in their last nine games following a SU win.

OVERTIME:

1. The Ducks have won only two of their last nine visits to Chicago.

2. Six of the top eight players in plus-minus will be on the ice Tuesday. Anaheim's Saku Koivu (plus-11) and Sheldon Souray (plus-10) lead the way, while Chicago's Toews and Johnny Oduya are plus-9 along with Daniel Winnik and Francois Beauchemin of the Ducks.

3. Anaheim recalled D Nate Guenin from Norfolk of the American Hockey League, where he has recorded 12 points in 41 games.

Anaheim Ducks at Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks off to a league-best 10-0-0-2 start get to enjoy some home cooking for a change. Blackhawks who've only played two games at the United Center, both wins start a seven game home stand against Pacific leading Anaheim Ducks (8-2-0-1). Blackhawks lighting the lamp 3.4 times a game while allowing 1.9 goals/game face a true test. The Ducks are just as production in goal scoring at 3.4 and have Viktor Fasth between the pipes who has turned heads with his 1.72 GAA winning all of his five starts backing up Hiller (3.69 GAA). Ducks 2-6 playing on Chicago ice surface including 1-4 with Hiller between the pipes expect Fasth to get the start.

Denver Money on the Ice
By Denver Money

New York Ranger @ Boston Bruins

Boston returns home tonight after missing their last home game due to a PPD caused by Nemo. Bruins who are 4-1 on home ice this year will get a tough test with the New York Rangers in town. These teams have met twice this season already with both teams winning on home ice. The last game between these teams went into OT where the Rangers won 4-3. The Rangers are playing better hockey since the last meeting which will make for even a better game tonight. The big concern I have is how the Rangers have played on the road, they are yet to truly find their grove away from home ice. That could be a problem tonight as the Bruins look to continue to dominate in Boston. I expect Boston to control the tempo of the game and if they can get New York into penalty trouble then they should be able to win this game. I think Boston is worth a small look but the under may be worth a bigger look.

Montreal Canadiens vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

What Lightning team will we see tonight is the biggest question going into the game. The Lightning started off the season very hot and especially at home, but they have since lost their grove and have lost their last 4 games. Tampa Bay is 5-1 at home and will look to have the home crowd behind them to get back on the winning side. Montreal is also struggling as they have dropped their last 3 games including a 0-6 blowout against the Toronto Maple Leafs in Montreal on 2/9. The home team is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings and it will continue tonight if Tampa Bay can find their grove and come out on all cylinders tonight against Carey Price. With the inconsistent play of both of these teams I think the over is worth a look.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Chicago Blackhawks

I keep thinking the Blackhawks are going to lose and they keep proving me wrong. They will get another big test tonight when the Ducks come to town. Ducks are playing really good and I still believe are an undervalued team. Viktor Fasth has really stepped up for Anaheim and if he can continue to play the way he has then the Ducks will be in this game all night. This will be only Chicago 3rd home game of the season and they will turn to Corey Crawford in the net yet again tonight with his 7-0-2 record on the season. The Ducks have struggled in the past in Chicago, but we are seeing a different team in them this season. We are seeing almost 80% of the bets on the Hawks tonight and line has dropped a little bit. I am going out on a limb and saying that the Ducks come into Chicago and get the victory in Hawks 3rd home game.
