Week 13 NFL

Giants (7-4) @ Redskins (5-6) —
Washington scored go-ahead TD with 1:32 left to take 23-20 lead in Week 7’s first meeting, but Manning hit on 77-yard TD pass on first play after kickoff to give Giants dramatic win, their 7th in last nine series games. Big Blue is 0-4 when they score 20 or less points, 7-0 when they score more; Redskins allowed 21+ points in nine of 11 games. Both teams have played better since their bye; Redskins scored 31-38 points in beating other two division rivals; they’ve had three extra days to prepare since Turkey Day win. Giants looked invigorated in crushing Green Bay last week. Home teams are 1-6 vs spread in NFC East games, home underdogs 0-2. Last three Giant games, three of last four Washington games stayed under the total. Last four years, team that won first series meeting also won the second; Giants won five of last six visits here.

New York Giants at Washington Redskins

The New York Giants destroying Green Bay Packers 38-10 this past week look to pad their NFC lead when they visit Washington Redskins on Monday. When Eli and RGIII went toe-to-toe in the first meeting, a 27-23 Giant win Manning tossed for 337 yards, 1 major, 2 interceptions while Griffin hit 20-of-28 passes for 258 yards, 2 TD's, 1 interception in the loss. The Redskins taking the last encounter at FedEx Field 23-10 along with a red-hot Griffin completing 34-of-43 passes for 511 yards with eight touchdowns last two should put a scare in the reigning Super Bowl champions. Redskins on a 5-1 ATS stretch vs divisional rivals, 4-0 ATS last four meetings have been pegged 3 point pups vs a Giant team 2-4-1 ATS off a win by 24 or more points.

NFL Poolies Betting Cheat Sheet: Week 13
By Covers.com

New York Giants at Washington (3, 51)

New York avoided a major downward spiral last Sunday night, when it posted a convincing 38-10 home victory over the Packers. Prior to the win, the Giants suffered losses at home to Pittsburgh and in Cincinnati. But not everything that came out of Sunday's win over the Packers was good as RB Andre Brown suffered a broken leg and is out for the remainder of the season. David Wilson could see more playing time in place of Brown, who leads the NFC with eight rushing touchdowns. Washington suffered a 27-23 setback to the Giants in Week 7 at MetLife Stadium. But New York is 0-4 ATS in its last four meetings with the Redskins.

Monday Night Football: Giants at Redskins
By Covers.com

New York Giants at Washington Redskins (2.5, 50)

With a pair of victories over division rivals, the Washington Redskins kept alive their slim hopes for a trip to the playoffs. They try for a third straight win over an NFC East rival on Monday night when they host the division-leading New York Giants. Washington appeared to be far out of the playoff picture after a string of three straight losses that began with a 27-23 road setback against the Giants in Week 7. But after their bye week, the Redskins manhandled the Philadelphia Eagles and jumped out to a huge lead in Dallas on Thanksgiving before holding on for a 38-31 triumph over the Cowboys. With star rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III at the helm, Washington is just one game behind Seattle for the second wild card in the conference but also has Tampa Bay and Minnesota in its way.

New York avoided a major downward spiral last Sunday night, when it posted a convincing 38-10 home victory over the surging Green Bay Packers. Prior to the win, the Giants suffered losses at home to Pittsburgh and in Cincinnati. New York, which is two games ahead of both Washington and Dallas in the division, ranks fourth in the NFC but trails San Francisco by 1 1/2 games for second place and a first-round bye in the playoffs.

LINE: Giants -2.5, O/U 50

WEATHER: Forecasts are calling for temperatures in the high-50s with partly cloudy conditions. Winds will blow out of the SSE at 4 mph.

ABOUT THE GIANTS (7-4): Quarterback Eli Manning owns a 7-2 record in his last nine starts against Washington. In his only previous Monday night meeting with the Redskins on Dec. 21, 2009, Manning threw three touchdown passes without an interception. Not everything that came out of Sunday's win over the Packers was good as running back Andre Brown suffered a broken leg and is out for the remainder of the season. David Wilson could see more playing time in place of Brown, who is second in the NFC with eight rushing touchdowns.

ABOUT THE REDSKINS (5-6): Griffin performed well in his first career game against the Giants, completing 20 of 28 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns while running for 89 yards on nine carries. Griffin was even better in his next two divisional games as he threw four TD passes against both the Eagles and Cowboys, becoming the first rookie in league history to do have at least four scoring strikes in consecutive games. Running back Alfred Morris is second among rookies with 982 yards. Washington is allowing an average of 301.4 passing yards, the second-worst mark in the NFL.

TRENDS:

* Giants are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games on grass.
* Redskins are 5-1 ATS in their last six vs. NFC East foes.
* Under is 6-1 in Giants’ last seven road games.
* Under is 4-1 in Redskins’ last five games overall.
* Giants are 0-4 ATS in their last four meetings.

EXTRA POINTS:

1. The Giants have won 10 of the last 13 meetings between the teams but were swept in the season series in 2011.

2. Washington is second in the league with an average of 162.9 rushing yards.

3. With three TD passes against Green Bay, Manning became the first Giant with 200 career scoring tosses.

MNF - Giants at Redskins
By Kevin Rogers
VegasInsider.com

The Giants are slowly running away from the rest of the NFC East pack with a two-game advantage over the second-place Redskins heading into Monday night. New York heads to the Nation's Capital, going for the season sweep of Washington, while trying to improve its position in the NFC playoff race.

Tom Coughlin's club is fresh off their most complete victory of the season, trouncing the Packers, 38-10 as one-point home favorites. New York improved to 7-4 with its second blowout of Green Bay in less than a calendar year, as the Giants rolled the Packers at Lambeau Field in the divisional round in January. Eli Manning tossed three touchdowns passes, while the Giants jumped out to a 31-10 halftime advantage. Bettors that took the 'over' are still bitter as the total of 50½ wasn't eclipsed thanks to just seven combined points scored in the second half.

The Redskins impressed on a national television stage by holding off the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, 38-31 as 3½-point road underdogs. Washington put together a 28-point second quarter blitz to nearly put the game out of reach, but Dallas cut the deficit to seven in the fourth quarter to make things interesting. Both teams exchanged field goals as the Redskins improved to 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS against NFC East competition, while Robert Griffin III had another stellar performance with four touchdown passes.

In the first meeting at Met Life Stadium in Week 7, the Giants won a see-saw affair in a 27-23 triumph over the Redskins. Washington cashed as 6 ½-point underdogs, but had an opportunity to win outright after taking a 23-20 lead with less than two minutes remaining. Griffin hit Santana Moss on a 30-yard touchdown strike, but Manning did the Heisman trophy winner one better with a 77-yard bomb to Victor Cruz for the go-ahead score. Unfortunately for 'over' bettors, the game finished just a shade below the closing total of 51 ½.

That victory by the Giants snapped a two-game losing streak to the Redskins, as Washington stole both matchups last season. The 'Skins took care of the Giants at FedEx Field in the 2011 opener as short home 'dogs, 28-14, as Mike Shanahan's squad outscored New York, 14-0 in the second half. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak by the Giants in D.C. dating back to 2006.

Washington owns just a 2-3 ATS record at FedEx Field this season, but the most impressive number is the 5-2 ATS mark as an underdog overall. The Redskins have been a hard team to figure out from a totals standpoint, scoring 30 points or more five times, but tallying 17 points or fewer three times.

The Giants are one of the top 'under' teams in the league by cashing in eight of 11 games, including a 4-1 'under' ledger on the highway. New York is 5-1 to the 'under' in the last six contests, but the only 'over' in this stretch came at Dallas in a Week 8 thriller, 29-24.

New York is playing in its fourth primetime game this season, but just the first under the Monday night lights. In Coughlin's tenure, the Giants have won and covered six of nine Monday night contests, including a 2-1 SU/ATS mark as a road favorite. Griffin will be showcased on Monday night for the first time, as the Redskins try to snap a five-game skid on Mondays dating back to 2008. To make matters worse, Washington has failed to win (or cover) a Monday night home contest since beating Dallas in 1997, while compiling an 0-10 SU/ATS record in this span.

From the Monday night trend standpoint this season, the 'over' has cashed each of the last two weeks following a run of four consecutive 'unders.' Favorites are on a nice roll, covering in four of the previous five weeks, including San Francisco (Week 7) and Carolina (Week 12) as road 'chalk.'

The Giants head into Monday listed as three-point favorites, but look for that number to potentially move to 3½ by game-time thanks to public money. The total is set between 50 and 51 depending on your sportsbook, as the game kicks off at 8:30 PM EST and can be seen nationally on ESPN.
