The Bobcats have been playing stingy defense recently. Charlotte has held its last four opponents to 36.7 percent shooting and 25.3 percent from 3-point range. Not surprisingly, all four of those games fell below the number.

Off a 117-114 win over the Hornets last time out, the Bucks were recently at the opposite end of the spectrum. Still, lets not forget that they limited the Pacers to just 85 the previous game. In three road contests this season, the Bucks are allowing only 91.7 ppg. Two of those stayed below the posted total.

With coach Scott Skiles calling his team's defense in the New Orleans game "embarrassing," Milwaukee should look for an improved defensive effort here.

Mike Dunleavy would note: "You want to stop the other team. You want to keep them below 90 points ... "

Take a look at the Under.

Rob Vinciletti

Clippers vs. Spurs
Play: Under

This game fits a nice 18-4 totals system. Had I been able to tie any further angles into it I have unit rated the selection. As is though it makes for a nice free play as we note that road dogs with 1 day of rest that scored 100 or more as a home favorite of 5 or more that shot 45% or higher with 25 or less assists have stayed under 18 of 22 times vs an opponent like a Home team like the Spurs that scored 110 or more as a home favorite of 5 or more and shot 455 or higher and had 25+ assists in the win. Look for this one to go under tonight.

Bobby Conn

Bears vs. 49ers
Play: Over

In today's NFL you almost never see a total this low and for good reason. Even two defensive teams like you'll see tonight are going to struggle to stop the opposing offenses on every possession. The last four MNF have gone under the total which has led to some over-adjusting this week so there is some small value in the OVER.

Ryan James

Mississippi St vs North Carolina
Play: North Carolina

Mississippi State is a cupcake team for North Carolina and this will be a blowout win from the Tarheels as the line indicates. Mississippi State has been getting a little too much love from the books as they lost their first game of the season straight up when they were a six point favorite. They played a cupcake team of their own in their second game and now face real competition going up against one of the top teams in the Nation. North Carolina has had no problem covering double digit lines this season and today is no different.

Re: Free Picks: Service Plays for Monday November, 19

Jim Feist

Rockets vs Jazz
Pick: Under

It's OVER vs UNDER here tonight as the Rockets take on the Jazz. The Rockets have been a good over team of late as their last four games have gone over the number. The Rockets have scored 100, 110, 117 (ot) and 108 respectively. They have also allowed 113 or more in three of those four games. Meanwhile, Utah has only scored more than 100 points in three of its 11 games this season and allowed more than 100 in three games. If recent history is any indication, the under team looks to dictate the pace here as six of the last seven meetings between these clubs have gone UNDER. Another reason I like the Under here is that the Rockets (the faster paced team) is playing the second of a back-to-back spot and that usually means tired legs. In fact, the last six times in this spot for the Rockets the UNDER is 4-1-1. Take the UNDER here tonight.

Fordham vs Pennsylvania
Pick: Pennsylvania

Tom Pecota continues to have no luck unless it's lousy at Fordham. The Rams just lost Chris Gastonm their best player, for at least a few weeks with a knee injury. Penn is no great shakes by any means, but the Quakers rate the chalk role tonight and I'll go with them to win and cover.

Re: Free Picks: Service Plays for Monday November, 19

Andrew Lange

Lamar at Virginia
Play: Virginia

Remember last year's Lamar squad? According to Ken Pom, they were the most experienced team in college basketball and after some mid-season struggles, Knight called out his team, particularly the seniors, and they rallied and reach the NCAA Tournament. Even with all of that experience, the Cardinals had a difficult time stepping up in class. The lost to Louisville and Ohio State by 20 and fell short at Kentucky by 22. Well, much of that experience is long gone with only one starter (4.9 ppg LY) back. As a result, Lamar has been pounded in the early going, losing at Kansas State 79-55 and a similar result last time out at Charlotte, 70-49. Today, they face a Virginia squad that was without a point guard its first few games and ended up losing to Delaware and George Mason. Starting point guard Jontel Evans is still out but back-up Teven Jones returned against Seattle and made a huge difference as the Cavs rolled to an 83-43 win. UVA is not necessarily built for blowouts, but their fundamentally sound, defensive first ways should cause nightmares for Lamar.

Re: Free Picks: Service Plays for Monday November, 19

SPORTS WAGERS

Chicago +4 -107 over SAN FRANCISCO

With two backup QB’s going and with a low posted total of 35, the prudent choice is the Bears. Jason Campbell's a veteran who was never quite good enough to be the solution as a starter but he’s certainly servicable. Last week Campbell came in and completed 11 of 19 passes for 94 yards and is certainly the more experienced of the two.

The Niners will have to roll with Colin Kaepernick this week as Alex Smith recovers from a concussion. Kaepernick offers some value as a runner, but don't bank on much passing success against a Chicago defense that's allowed just seven passing scores all season. Da Bears have allowed 100-yard rushers in back-to-back games but Frank Gore is not 100% and Chicago can focus on the running game. With a low score expected, this one is likely going to be close throughout. With it being anyone’s game, taking the points is where the value lies and that's they way we'll play it.

CHARLOTTE +5½ -103 over Milwaukee

The Bucks are off to a hot 6-2 start but this is not a .750 club and therefore a correction is forthcoming. Milwaukee is also 3-0 on the road with its smallest margin of victory being nine points and is also unsustainable. Give them credit for what they’ve accomplished so far, especially Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings in the backcourt, who have been lighting it up and dealing it with the league’s most assists. Yet, each is undersized and both are defensive liabilities. As soon as they inevitably cool off offensively, wins are not going to come so easy, as they rank 17th in the NBA in points allowed.

The Bobcats bring it every night. They went toe-to-toe with Memphis in their last game and they’re a respectable 4-4 on the season. Charlotte is 7th in the league in rebounding and everything else about their game is improving. In its first four games, opponents averaged 110 points and 50 percent shooting. In the next four, opponents averaged 89 points and 37 percent shooting. The Bobcats were a 6½-point home dog to the Grizzlies on Saturday and they’re not even a bucket less than that here against a team that is not in Memphis’s class.

New Mexico -2 -105 over Connecticut

This one will be played in Hawaii as part of the Maui Invitational. UConn is a perennial powerhouse. Along with Duke, North Carolina, Ohio and Michigan, among others, they are the most recognizable and successful programs year after year in college basketball. New Mexico is not. The Lobos play in the Mountain West Conference. In the 2009-2010 season, the Lobos had their first ranked team since 1999.

The Huskies come into this one with a 4-0 record and they’re ranked #23 in the country while the Lobos remain unranked. Why then is Connecticut being offered points here? That is surely going to get the attention of bettors. Sometimes the line dictates the play and that’s the situation here. New Mexico's program is on the rise under Steve Alford's watch. The former NBA guard took over as head coach in 2007 and led the team to 22 wins or more every season since. The Lobos finished at the top of the Mountain West Conference with a 28-7 overall record. They went to the Sweet 16 in last year’s tournament and could go even deeper this year. There off to a 3-0 start this season with a nice win over George Mason already. The line says they’re ready to make another statement here.

Wunderdog

Milwaukee at Charlotte
Pick: Milwaukee -5

The Charlotte Bobcats have four wins on the season, but they have all come against teams with major injury issues. Indiana (no Granger), Dallas (no Nowitski), Minnesota (no Love), and they also own a win vs. 0-8 Washington. While it looks like this 7-59 train wreck from a year ago has turned the corner, I don't see it, though they should top that win total this year. The Bucks have looked impressive on the way to a 6-2 start, losing only to Memphis and Boston, but they also own a win over Boston. The Bobcats are just 6-16-2 ATS in their last 24 at home vs. a team with a winning road record. The Bucks are not intimidated by the road where they are 11-4 ATS in their last 15. The Buck doesn't stop here, so play on Milwaukee.

Re: Free Picks: Service Plays for Monday November, 19

Matt Fargo

Youngstown St. vs. North Dakota State
Pick: North Dakota State

North Dakota St. is 2-1 to start the season with the lone loss coming against Indiana by 26 points. Yes it was a blowout but considering that the Hoosiers other two wins have been by 43 and 54 points, the Bison can take something from it. Their other two wins have been against non-Division I teams so this will be their first game against a like opponent. The Bison welcome back their top five scorers from a team that qualified for the CBI so they should be even better this year and are expected to contend for the Summit League title this year. They have the best frontcourt in the conference and that will be a big advantage today. Youngstown St. is off to a 3-0 start which includes an impressive road win ay Georgia as well as another road win at George Washington. The Penguins are coming off a home win over St. Francis, PA and now take to the road once again and they are definitely overvalued in this contest based on the early season results. They were one of the biggest surprises in the Horizon League a year ago with a 10-8 record and while they return three starters, we will see a step backward. This team is very undersized and the depth in thin once again which makes matchups like this one very difficult. The Penguins are 1-8 ATS in their last nine games after a win by 15 or more points while the Bison are 18-5 ATS in their last 23 non-conference games. North Dakota St. hands the Penguins their first loss on this neutral floor in Pittsburgh.

Jimmy Boyd

San Antonio Spurs -4.5

The Spurs were crushed by the Clippers 106-84 on the road Nov. 7, but I expect a much different result at home where they are an incredible 34-14-3 ATS in their last 51 games.

In addition, the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings, and the Clippers are just 2-7 ATS in their last 9 in San Antonio. The Spurs went 3-1 at home against the Clippers last season with the victories coming by 25, 16 and 17 points.

It also bodes well for us that San Antonio is coming off a 126-100 win over Denver. That's because it is 36-15-5 ATS in their last 56 games following a victory and 16-4-2 ATS in its last 22 games following a win of more than 10 points. Lay the points as the Spurs have their revenge.

Jack Jones

Dallas Mavericks -5.5

The Golden State Warriors are in a very tough spot tonight. They will be playing the second of a back-to-back and their 3rd road game in 4 days when they visit the Dallas Mavericks Monday. They are coming off a 109-119 loss at Oklahoma City last night.

Dallas checks in on one days' rest after topping the Cleveland Cavaliers 103-95 on the road Saturday. The Mavericks have clearly played their best basketball at home, going 4-1 at American Airlines Center while outscoring opponents by 10.6 points/game.

Golden State is 16-32 ATS versus good shooting teams - making >=46% of their shots over the last 3 seasons. The Warriors are already thin on the bench with both Andrew Bogut and Richard Jefferson out, so that makes this second of a back-to-back situation even tougher. Bet the Mavericks Monday.

John Ryan

Lamar vs. Virginia
Play: Virginia

The simulator shows a high probability that UVA will win this game by 19 or more points. Supporting this graded play is a proven system posting a 58-22 ATS mark for 73% winners since 2006. Play against dogs of 10 to 19.5 points that are poor rebounding teams giving up >=13 offensive rebounds per game on the season. Lamar is not a solid shooting fundamental basketball team. Sim shows a high probability that they will not score more than 60 points and will make less than 30% of their shots from beyond the arc. In past games, UVA is a rock solid 8-1 ATS when their opponents make 23% to 30% of their 3 pointers in a game over the last 3 seasons; 24-9 ATS (+14.1 Units) when they allow 60 or less points in a game over the last 3 seasons. Take the Cavaliers.

Jeff Scott Sports

4 UNIT PLAY

UCLA -6 over Georgetown: UCLA is going to be a tough team this year and even more so now that Muhammad is back on the floor for them. UCLA had a tough showing vs UC-Irvine at home in a game that they won in OT, but they came back very strong with a 30 point win over James Madison. UCLA will face a tough defensive team in Georgetown, but this team has plenty of weapons that will be able to score on anyone this year.  Georgetown is a well coached team but they did lose some talent from last year and are picked for middle of the pack in the Big East. Plenty of youngsters are on the Hoyas and this is just too big of a game for me to think they will respond positively. The Bruins will pull away for a DD win in the second half.

3 UNIT PLAY

South Alabama -4 over Tennessee State: I have been following the State team pretty closely so far and went against them vs Minnesota the other day, which turned out to be a pretty easy win. TSU has already played 3 road games on the year and have goner 0-3 in those games, losing 2 of them by 15+. This is not a team that seems to be ready for the season. They did go through a coaching change and that has something to do with it and I don't expect them to get it turned around in this one. South Alabama comes in at 2-0 and they have looked very good, especially in their upset of a very good Florida State squad. The Jags are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games, while TSU is just 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 vs the Sun Belt. Theses teams are heading in different directions to start the year and i expect that to continue as the Jags win by 10.

USC vs. Illinois
Play: USC

Your FREE PICK today will keep you up late as we back the USC TROJANS -1.5 over the Illini in some late night Maui Invitational action. Illinois has a new HC, and even though he has returning talent, he wants to do things his way. USC has the shorter travel which helps. Last year was a lost cause with so many injuries, they could surprise some people this year if things break right.

Bucks/Bobcats UNDER 198

This is simply too many points for this matchup. While the Bucks are averaging an impressive 101.0 ppg this season, they will struggle to reach the century mark against a very underrated Bobcats defense. Charlotte is giving up just 94.5 ppg at home this season while holding opponents to just 39.1% from the field.

The Bobcats have only allowed two teams to reach 100 points all season. They have held each of their last three opponents under 95 points and 39% shooting. The UNDER is a perfect 4-0 over the Bobcats last four games and I'm confident it will be five straight after tonight.

Most of the public is simply unwilling to give Charlotte the respect they deserve and most believe that the Bucks are simply going to go into Time Warner Cable Arena and impose their will and make the Bobcats play their style of basketball. Not only do I like the total to stay UNDER, but I'm also leaning towards making a small bet on the Bobcats +5 as well.

Chicago Bears vs. San Francisco 49ers
Play: Chicago Bears

Both QB's suffered concussion last week in a home loss the Bears and a home tie the 49'ers. Cutler is out and Jason Campbell is in. Alex Smith should play but if he doesn't Rookie QB Colin Kaepernick gets the call. Both teams win due to great defenses. The Bears give up 16ppg on the road and the 49'ers give up 16ppg at home. Both teams have had played well on Monday the last 3 years-- Chicago 5-1 SU 4-2 ATS and SF 3-1 SU 4-0 ATS. Look for a very hard hitting contest with the outcome due to a turnover. The Bears are plus 14 while thew 49'ers plus 4. Take Chicago plus 3.5
