2012 UFC 154 Betting Odds & Card for Condit vs. St. Pierre

MONTREAL (TheSpread) – The UFC Welterweight Championship makes his long-awaited return to the octagon on Saturday as part of the main event of UFC 154.
UFC 154 will take place from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada with the main card bouts airing live on PPV at 10PM ET.
The main event of Saturday’s card is a UFC Welterweight Championship bout with the champion Georges St. Pierre (22-2) taking on interim champion Carlos Condit (28-5). According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, St. Pierre is the favorite to retain his title, as he has odds of -345 to win, while Condit has a money line of +275 to win. St. Pierre hasn’t competed since April of 2011, as he suffered a torn ACL during training for a fight with Condit late last year. During his recovery, Condit won the interim title to force a unification bout this Saturday. St. Pierre has not lost since April of 2007 while Condit has won five straight bouts. Both fighters have good all around skill. Condit has more power in his striking and is the longer fighter, while St. Pierre is the stronger grappler and more technical with his approach. The big key to this fight will be how St. Pierre deals with not having competed in well over a year and whether he will have the same cardio that he has had in previous bouts.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card is also a welterweight bout with Johny Hendricks (13-1) and Martin Kampmann (20-5) competing to be the No. 1 contender in the division. According to oddsmakers, Hendricks is the slight favorite to win, as he has odds of -145 to win, while Kampmann has a money line of +115 to win. Hendricks has won four straight coming into this bout while Kampmann has won three straight. Hendricks comes into the fight as the explosive striker with one-punch power and a wrestling base. Kampmann is more technical with his striking and a solid submission grappler. Hendricks is the favorite to win if the fight doesn’t last long, but the longer the fight goes, the better chances Kampmann has to win.

2012 UFC 154 Free Picks & Predictions for St. Pierre vs. Condit

MONTREAL, Quebec (TheSpread) – UFC 154 takes place on Saturday night and features a championship contest. Here are a few suggest plays for the night’s main card.
UFC 154 will take place from the Bell Centre in Montreal with the main card bouts airing live on PPV at 10PM ET. All odds are according to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv.
UFC Welterweight Championship Bout – Georges St. Pierre (22-2) vs. Carlos Condit (28-5)
This is a tough fight. Normally, GSP would be the easy pick, but he is coming off a layoff that extends from April 2011 to now due to a severe knee injury. Will St. Pierre have the same conditioning and ability that he did prior to getting hurt? Condit is a very formidable opponent regardless of St. Pierre’s condition, as he has knockout power in his hands and feet. His weakness is his takedown defense, which I expect GSP to expose if he is up to speed. I think this fight will be a grind for St. Pierre, but he will come away with a decision victory. FREE PICK – Georges St. Pierre -345
UFC Welterweight Bout – Johny Hendricks (13-1) vs. Martin Kampmann (20-5)
This should be an entertaining contest as the two are fighting for No. 1 contender status. Hendricks has the power to end this fight quickly, while Kampmann is the better technician and I think that is what will allow him to win this fight. He will survive the early storm from Hendricks and then pick him apart on the feet as he tires over the final two rounds. Look for Kampmann to pick up a decision victory in a mild upset. FREE PICK – Martin Kampmann +115
UFC Middleweight Bout – Constantinos Philippou (11-2) vs. Nick Ring (13-1)
This is a good battle between two promising middleweights, but I like Philippou in this one. He has the striking power and technique to win this fight standing and he is strong enough in his grappling to stay off his back against Ring. Over 15 minutes I expect Philippou to land a big punch at some point that will put Ring out. FREE PICK – Constantinos Philippou -240
