WNBA Playoff Predictions
By Tim Nolan
Playbook.com

The 2012 WNBA playoffs start this week. Red Dog Sports follows the league on a daily basis and here are their predictions.

The Minnesota Lynx are the defending champion. They beat Atlanta last year for the title. Both teams are in the hunt for the 2012 championship.

I believe that Minnesota, Los Angeles or Connecticut will win it all in 2012. My pick is Minnesota to repeat.

East

#4 New York vs. #1 Connecticut

Look for Connecticut to win. Cappie Pondexter led New York into the playoffs with her solid point guard play but the Liberty will be lucky to win one game against Connecticut, who are led by Tina Charles, Kara Lawson and Rene Montgomery.

#3 Atlanta vs. #2 Indiana

Atlanta made it to the finals last year. They are led by Angel McCoughtry, who is a great scorer but very tempermental. Indiana is led by Tameka Catchings, whose dad Harvey used to play in the NBA. Look for Indiana to advance.

West

#4 Seattle vs. #1 Minnesota

Seattle finished below .500 as Lauren Jackson, a former league MVP, missed the first half of the season to prepare for the Olympics with the Australian national team. The Storm are well coached by Brian Agler and do have a good point guard in Sue Bird. Minnesota is a great team and the favorite to win it all again. They are led by Maya Moore, Lindsey Whalen and Simeone Augustus, as all three played for the gold medal winning USA squad. The Lynx should sweep but look for a low scoring close game at Seattle.

#3 San Antonio vs. #2 Los Angeles

Look for a high scoring series. The Sparks are led by Candace Parker, who can control play with inside moves. They also have good players like Kristi Toliver and the rookie from Stanford. The Silver Stars are a good team led by Becky Hammon and Danille Robinson and Adams. Look for a good series with LA advancing.
