HOCKENHEIM, Germany (TheSpread) – The 2012 Formula 1 heads to Hockenheimring on Sunday for the running of the German Grand Prix.

According to oddsmakers, Sebastian Vettel is the favorite to win this race, as he has 7/4 odds. Other short odds to win are Lewis Hamilton (15/4), Mark Webber (7/1) and Fernando Alonso (15/2).

Vettel has never won this race in his career. Vettel is the defending series champion and is currently third in the point standings, 29 points out of first. He has one win and six top 5’s on the year.

Hamilton is the defending champion of this race and he also won in 2008. Hamilton is fourth in the point standings. He is 37 points out of first place and has one win with five top 5’s on the year.

Webber won this race back in 2009. He is currently second in the point standings, sitting 13 points behind Alonso for first. Webber has won two of the last four races and he has seven top 5’s in nine events.

Alonso claimed victory in this event back in 2010 and in 2005. He is the current F1 points leader and has two victories on the year with seven top 5’s in nine races.
