French Open Odds: Day 3 Preview and Picks

A lot of unimpressive matchups on Day 3 and there are only two that stir me.
No. 51 Donald Young (+314) vs. No. 87 Gregor Dimitrov (-360)
We have a couple of highly-rated juniors here who have not grown into the pro game as quickly as expected. Young had what looked like a semi-breakthrough season in 2011, but has now lost nine straight in a 2-12 year with his last win coming over Dimitrov indoors in Memphis - 7-6 (6) in the third. Dimitrov hasn't been much better but he has that win over Tomas Berdych at Key Biscayne (hardcourt) and, despite the rankings, rates an edge.
Pick: Dimitrov
No. 35 Yanina Wickmayer (-260) vs. No. 41 Tsvetana Pironkova (+231)
Wickmayer was once No. 12, two years ago, but never made the jump from there and, while neither of these players has had much of a clay-court season, the Bulgarian is marginally more comfortable on dirt. Not comparing grass to clay, but Pironkova is a former Wimbledon semifinalist, so we know the quality can be there. After a hand injury in April, she had a quarterfinal finish at Brussels last week, with a good win over Nadia Petrova. Pironkova says she's fit.
Pick: Pironkova
