Winnipeg Jets at Calgary Flames (-130, 5)

You have to give the Calgary Flames some credit. Despite missing seven forwards due to injury, they were just two points out of a playoff spot ahead of Thursday’s action.

Captain Jarome Iginla put the team on his back Tuesday, scoring twice in a hard-fought 5-4 win over Montreal.

"We're going through a tough stretch, and sometimes when it goes like that, you just need that one to get over the hump,” Iginla told reporters. “It's not pretty but it's still an important win for us."

It’s probably going to get a lot uglier down the stretch. The Flames are 2-3-3 in their last eight, but are now relying on basically two forward lines to provide the offense, which has struggled all season to begin with.

The Flames do catch a bit of a break with Winnipeg playing the second half of a back-to-back, but the Jets need these points just as much as Calgary does.

We like the road team value here.

Pick: Jets

New York Rangers at Chicago Blackhawks (-120, 5)

The good news for the Chicago Blackhawks is they face the Eastern Conference’s best team as it plays on consecutive nights. The bad news is that means they’ll almost certainly see Henrik Lundqvist in the cage after he took Thursday night off.

The Blackhawks were just pushed around all over the ice in a 5-1 loss to the hard-working St. Louis Blues, a team that grinds teams out with depth and defense much like the Rangers do.

"They have a great home record," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville told reporters of the Blues. "They are playing well. Across the boards, game in, game out, this team is winning hockey games. They can win low-scoring affairs and they can win a lot of different ways. They have some depth to their team, and we (had) to be at our best."

The Blackhawks have been held to 20 or fewer shots in three of their last five games and it’s probably going to take a lot more than that to rattle Lundqvist.

Look to the under or play the road underdog here as well.

Pick: Rangers

Chicago Blackhawks in Search of Another Scalp of the New York Rangers

The battle on the NHL lines will be intense on Friday, March 9th between the Chicago Blackhawks (36-25-7) and the New York Rangers (42-16-7). It all gets started at the United Center in Chicago, IL with the puck dropping at 8:30 ET. Live television coverage is set for the NHL Network, Comcast Sports Chicago, and MSG.

Matters haven't always been great for the Blackhawks on the NHL betting lines of late. They aren't all that far removed from a nine-game losing streak that left them on the verge of missing the playoffs, and they had another three-game skid to wrap up the month of February. Chicago is in fourth place in the Central Division, and there are only five points separating it from missing the playoffs with a ton of teams that are involved in the middle, almost all of which have played more games than it has.

But that being said, when the Blackhawks are winning, they are beating the big time teams. Just since that nine-game skid, they have beaten the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena and here at the United Center. They have also taken out the St. Louis Blues at home and the Vancouver Canucks on the road. Could it be the Rangers' turn?

New York certainly doesn't have anything to worry about in its own conference right now. The team is still eight points clear of the rest of the East with only 17 games remaining.

If there is a concern though, it is in the fact that the Rangers just haven't played great hockey of late. They were dominated in a 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in a game that never should have been that close, and they have definitely been shoddy defensively since that point. Though New York does have some scorers that can get the job done this year, it is still a team that is going to beat the NHL gambling lines with its defense and goaltending, as 2.7 goals per game just isn't going to cut it.

These two teams obviously don't meet all that often, but they did only meet three weeks ago at Madison Square Garden. That was the game in which the nine-game skid stopped for the Hawks, as they picked up a 4-2 victory. That's an awfully rare win on the NHL wagering lines in this series for Chicago though, as it is just 2-4-0 versus the Rangers in the teams last six confrontations dating back to 2007.

New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers to go Head-to-Head in Atlantic Division Duel

The Philadelphia Flyers (37-21-7) and the New Jersey Devils (37-24-5) are set to tango on Sunday, March 11th from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

We're breaking down the NHL odds for this clash, which can be seen live on Comcast Sports Philadelphia and MSG starting at 7:00 ET. The Devils and the Flyers are deadlocked in a race in the Atlantic Division that also involves the Pittsburgh Penguins and potentially the New York Rangers. All four teams are likely heading to the postseason, but there is a big difference between the #1 seed that the Rangers are going to be and the #4 through #7 seeds that the rest of the teams in the division are going to end up with.

Both of these teams are in fine form right now. Philadelphia came up with a 3-2 win at home on Tuesday night against the Detroit Red Wings for its third straight win on the NHL betting odds. The problem is that the schedule is brutal over the course of the next four games, including two with these Devils, a roadie at the Toronto Maple Leafs, and a home date with the Southeast Division leading Florida Panthers.

The Devils have amassed just five points in their last four games, which might not sound that impressive until you consider the fact that the games in which they earned the tallies against were the Rangers, the Washington Capitals, and the Boston Bruins.

Both of these offenses clearly have some potential. Ilya Kovalchuk is finally rounding into the player that the Devils thought they picked up two years ago. He has 64 points on the year to lead the team, and he is really one of the only reasons that this team has consistently beaten the NHL gambling odds of late.

Philadelphia has the top rated offense in the game, averaging 3.2 goals per game, and it is one of just three teams in the Eastern Conference that has scored at least 200 goals on the campaign; though the Toronto Maple Leafs will also be there by the time this weekend arrives.

If he is going to be in net this weekend, this is going to be the 84th time that Martin Brodeur has faced the Flyers. That's more than any other team in his storied career. The long time Devil is 44-29-9 all-time in this series, and he has a rock solid .904 save percentage to go with nine shutouts. He'll be key if the Devils are going to have the upper hand in this clash against the NHL wagering odds.
