Re: TUESDAY PREMIUM SERVICE PLAYS

Ben Burns

I'm playing on the Lakers and Magic to finish OVER the total. As you probably know, the first two games of this series have both been very low-scoring, both staying below the total. While Game 2 did finish with 197 points, that score was somewhat deceiving, as 21 of those points came in overtime. That said, it should also be noted that the scoring did begin to finally pick up in the second half of the last game. After the teams combined for a mere 30 points in the first quarter, they scored only 45 in the second. The second half (not including OT) produced 101 points though, as the shots finally began to fall. Not surprisingly, given the results of the first two games, we're getting a much lower over/under line to work with than we were for either game at LA. The first game had a total of 206 and the second had a total of 202. Tonight's has fallen below the 200 mark, which I feel provides us with excellent line value. With tonight's game shifting to Orlando, I expect to see significantly more scoring. Yes, the Lakers have shown that they are capable of playing stout defense. However, the Cavs weren't too shabby in that department either, as they finished with the best defense in the regular season and were allowing just 78.1 points per game in the playoffs. Yet, the Magic averaged a whopping 103.7 PPG, shooting 48 percent for the series. In the three games here at Orlando, they scored 103, 116 and 99 points. While Game 2 did stay below the total, the Lakers, who have now won four straight, have still seen the OVER go 24-15-1 the last 40 times that they were coming off three or more consecutive victories. Their last two road games in the Denver series both finished above the total. They had combined scores of 211 and 221. Looking at the regular season meeting between the Magic and Lakers here at Orlando and we find that the teams combined for 209 points, slipping above the total of 206.5. Including that result, the OVER is a perfect 5-0 the last five times that these teams met here at Orlando. Those five games averaged 213 combined points. I look for those numbers to improve, as tonight's final score finishes above the generously low number. *Top Finals Total
