Breeders Cup Turf Sprint News and Notes
By Anthony Stabile

Juvenile Turf: 1 mile(T); $1 million; 2YO; Saturday, 4:35pm on ESPN

The History

Nownownow won the inaugural running over a boggy Monmouth Park turf course.

The Best
Bittel Road has been the picture of resiliency and consistency in his first three career starts. After breaking his maiden in a Belmont turf sprint, Bittel Road overcame a tough break in the With Anticipation before closing furiously to win the G3 Bourbon at Keeneland last out.

Grand Adventure is for you if you’re a Beyer speed figure fan because he towers over the field with that robust 94 he posted when taking the G3 Summer at Woodbine last out after he raced seven wide and his jockey lost his whip. He broke his maiden in a sprint two back in his debut.

O’Brien/Coolmore shipper Westphalia has won half of his six starts including the G2 Champagne in England last out. It is widely assumed that the Europeans hold a decided advantage in these races considering the fact that almost all their best juveniles have no choice but to run over the weeds while the U.S. runners now have three options.

The Rest
City Style won his turf debut in the Sunday Silence at Louisiana Downs last out. Coronet of a Baron makes his turf debut after just missing in the G1 Del Mar Futurity last out. Donativum seeks his third straight win while shipping across the pond. Mark S the Cooler needs to draw in from the AE list. Ninth Client tired to third when adding Lasix in the Bourbon. Orthodox broke his maiden in his turf debut when second time blinkers last out. Paddy the Pro won a pair of synthetic starts overseas after losing his debut on turf. Relatively Ready broke his maiden before finishing third in G3 Pilgrim. Skipadate adds blinkers after finishing second in both the With Anticipation and Summer. Vaquero switches to Desormeaux after settling for fourth in the Bourbon in his grass debut.

The Scenario
Once again, even I’m not ambitious enough to try and figure this one out.

The Strategy
The favorites look awful tough in here so don’t try to get cute.

The Bomb
Relatively Ready overcame a nightmare trip to break his maiden then ran an even third over a yielding course in the Pilgrim. Let’s see what he can do on a firm course at 15-1.
