Monday Service Plays

Re: Monday Service Plays

Baltimore at Pittsburgh -5/34

The DUE Factor

The UNDER is due on Monday night! There has been 4 straight "overs" on Monday Night. MNF also produced 3 favs and one dog cover.

The only trend that might go against the under is Pittsburgh is 12-1-1 o/u at home vs the division..

Last nights "over", which I picked, came after the Sunday night games went 4 straight "unders" and the dogs went 3 - 1 in those contests. The dogs continue to roll on Sundays!

Re: Monday Service Plays

Greg Shaker

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers
Play: Steelers -5

Let's get the first concern out of the way. Ben Roethlisberger's hand is much better and he will play tonight for the home team. The Baltimore QB will also and while he has led his team to two wins this year, he has not been that good with one of the lowest QB ratings in the NFL, no TD Passes and 2 INT's. The Steelers came off one of their worst whoopings in their history last week to Philly, allowing 9 sacks and just looking like hell all of the way. This team will be prepared to turn it around quick and they are in a good situation to do so with a 14-1 Home Record on Monday nite and 12-3 ATS as well. This is going to be a tough place to win for Baltimore tonight and I expect that Pitt will get very good home suport from the fans. We must not forget that Flacco will be in his first Hostile Environment tonight and that is a lot on his young shoulders. These Steelers are not the Bengals, nor the Browns and this will be the first real D that Flacco will face this year. Baltimore's D has been very good so far but despite that, they have only outgained their opponents by about 300 yards in the first 2 games. We can certainly see by the posted total that oddsmakers think this is going to be a low scoring game. I do agree somewhat with that assumption but I think that Pitt will get their share of points and some of those might come with their D efforts. The Steelers are just a much better team here at this stadium and they are very good following a loss. The Ravens have discovered that as they are just 1-6 ATS the last 7 times they have visited here, after Pittsburgh had lost the previous week. As good as Baltimore is against the run, the Steelers are just as good and Flacco is going to have to show us something through the air if Baltimore is going to hang around in this contest. He will get a lot of preasure tonight, and he will have a very difficult time calling audibles. Both teams have a lot of injuries but the Pitt injuries are healing much better according to the reports out today. I am playing the squad with the better skipper behind the center, the better situation in all respects. Baltimore is just in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the wrong personel.

Mr A

Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox

Chicago White Sox have won six of their last 7 games at home against the Detroit Tigers  and are 14-3 in Gavin Floyd's last 17 starts at U.S. Cellular Field. Take the White Sox in a must-win contest to force a one game tiebreaker against Minnesota for the AL Central title on Tuesday.

Chicago White Sox -230

Baltimore at Pittsburgh

Look for the Steelers to play tough, following last week's horrible performance. Baltimore is 0-5 both straight-up and against the spread in their last 5 road games, while the Pittsburgh is 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games. Baltimore's solid defense won't make it easy for Steelers' QB Ben Roethlisberger and crew. Take the Steelers in a likely close hard fought Monday night battle at Heinz Field.

Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox

The White Sox beat the Indians, 5-1 at U.S. Cellular Field, ending of a five-game losing streak and will play Detroit today at home in a makeup game. If Chicago wins this game, a one-game division tiebreaker will be played on Tuesday with Minnesota in Chicago. The White Sox have won six of the last seven versus Detroit in the Windy City and will send Gavin Floyd to the hill. Chicago is 5-0 in Floyd's last 5 starts versus the Tigers, 4-0 in his last 4 home starts against them. Go with the White Sox!

Lenny Del Genio

Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox
Prediction: Chicago White Sox

We know this is a huge price tag, but if you?re looking to play this game, then the White Sox are the way to go. They have everything to play for. Detroit has no reason to care as most of the Tigers are already making golf reservations. Gavin Floyd has been great at US Cellular Field and Freddy Garcia is simply too rusty to succeed in this spot. Chicago has won 13 of Floyd?s 16 home starts this season, and he is the biggest moneymaker on their staff. They have beaten Detroit six of eight times here at home this season. Take Chicago White Sox.

Re: Monday Service Plays

Wunderdog

New York at Detroit
Pick: OVER 137

The totals have dropped in this series going from 144 in game one, to 141 in game two, down to 137 here. It's no wonder, as an average of just 117.5 were scored in those two games. Now we get value going the other way. Detroit games have averaged 153 ppg this season at home! New York has gone 15-5 OVER following a game where they lost ATS. Detroit is 38-25 to the OVER in a game after being a favorite the previous game. The OVER gets the call in this one.

Re: Monday Service Plays

Andre Gomes

DETROIT at CHI WHITE SOX

For this game it's too easy to take the White Sox. After all, they need this game in order to get to the tiebreaker game tomorrow and they couldn't have more motivation to win this game. And that may make the difference, but I don't think exactly like that, as we need to look at Detroit's side too.

We are talking about a team which was supposed to get prepared for the postseason right now (who doesn't remember all the hype on the Tigers in the early season?), so this is also a game where they have a shot to make the headlines, after a disasterous season and nothing better than beat the White Sox in a divisional game. So, I would say the motivation exists on both sides.

The White Sox will send Gavin Floyd, who had a great season, but surely this isn't a good spot for him. He had just 3 days off from his previous outing against Minnesota and actually this will be the second time this week that Floyd had just 3 days off to rest between games Coincidently or not, the truth is that Floyd allowed 9 runs and 19 hits on his last 2 outings and today he will be under tremendous pressure, in a very dangerous game, as the Tigers with motivation are extremely dangerous. Floyd has allowed 4 and 5 runs on his previous two outings against Detroit and even though the White Sox won, he wasn't involved in the decision.

On the other side, the Tigers will send Freddy Garcia, who had a quality start on his return at Texas, but had a letdown game against the Royals, by allowing 5 runs in 5 innings. Garcia is a former player of the White Sox (had a very important role when the White Sox won the world series in 2005) and I wonder how much he wants to win today (just a supposition!!!).

The Tigers come from one of their rare wins in a series and against the Rays, where they averaged 6 runs per game. The Over is 4-1 in the Tigers last 5 road games against a team with a winning record and I expect a very emotional game in here with a lot of runs. Floyd is 11-4 Over in home games this season and the White Sox are 13-5 Over in home games after having lost 3 of their last 4 games this season. Even though Floyd is 8-1 in day games this season, the reason for that is a great run support, as he has an ERA of just 4.02. Take the over in here.

PITTSBURGH (-5.0) 16 Baltimore 13

I don’t see how either team is going to move the ball with any consistency in this game, as both defenses are strong and both offenses are challenged. Baltimore held two pretty good offensive teams, Cincinnati and Cleveland, to just 3.1 yards per play and 3.0 yppl, respectively, so shutting down a Pittsburgh attack that has averaged just 4.5 yppl and will be without star back Willie Parker shouldn’t be a problem. Ben Roethlisberger was banged up in last week physical game against the Eagles (he was sacked 8 times), but he should play in this game and backup Byron Leftwich probably couldn’t be any worse than Roethlisberger has been (just 5.4 yards per pass play). Pittsburgh’s defense has given up just 3.9 yppl to 3 good offensive teams (Houston, Cleveland, and Philly) and the Steelers should dominate a Ravens’ attack that is just below average running the ball (4.1 ypr if you take out Mark Clayton’s 42 yard reverse) and is very bad throwing the ball with rookie quarterback Joe Flacco, who has averaged just 5.1 yards per pass play against two teams (Cleveland and Cincy) with bad pass defenses. My math model favors Pittsburgh by 6 ½ points with a total of 25 ½ points, but the Steelers apply to a negative 20-51-2 ATS situation and I’ll lean with Baltimore plus the points. I’ll also favor the under (34 ½ points).

Re: Monday Service Plays

Oscarxena Sports

Baltimore/Pittsburgh Under 34.5 (3 Unit Play)

I have to be honest that this play is somewhat risky because of the injuries that both teams have on the defensive side of the ball but I have no confidence whatsoever in either one of these offenses so Under is the only way that I can look in this one. Last year when Baltimore suffered the most was when they had injuries to their top CB's Rolle and McAllister and while McAllister is fine for this one Rolle is out so the Steelers may have an advantage throwing the ball this evening. However, both teams have their run stuffing guys out in NT's Hampton & Gregg so I think both teams will try to grind out the ball on the ground in order to move the chains. Both teams passing games have been nearly non existent this year and I don't see them breaking out here tonight. Baltimore will have Flacco making his first road start this year and I am sure the reigns will be on him here especially against the tough Steeler D. Pittsburgh will be without Parker tonight but I think losing a RB is not a big deal in the NFL and I think Mendenhall will be fine in his first start. The only way I see this game going Over is if the teams turn the ball over and give up great field position. I was surprised somewhat to see this line going up so I recommend a play on the Under here and I will call for a Pittsburgh 17-10 victory this evening.
