WINNING POINTS

***BEST BET
Rhode Island* over Xavier by 14
NCAA Selection Committee to 20-win Rhode Island: ‘Beat somebody.’ Rams to
Selection Committee: ‘We hear you’, Xavier is ranked #14 and we’ve had this home
game circled for a long time. We will enjoy shooting from the perimeter over 5’8”
Drew Lavender, and we will enjoy daring him to dribble penetrate because he can’t get close enough to the hoop to finish effectively against us, and their wing players with nice percentages won’t hit consistently enough against our experienced defenders after he kicks it out to them.

RHODE ISLAND, 81-67.

***BEST BET
San Diego* over Gonzaga by 8
You don’t spend 14 seasons in Gonzaga’s locker room and huddles without learning a
little something about their strengths, weaknesses, strategies and how you might attack and counter them if you were coaching somewhere else. San Diego first-season head coach Bill Grier took his new team back into his old house last month, but they didn’t hit enough shots early in the first half to keep the dogs at bay. An 0-12 deficit there is killer. However, the Toreros did enough things right to hang in there and edge their way back into the game in the second half when they could have folded instead. They’ve already beaten St. Mary’s in this building, at their own down-tempo pace. With those confidence-builders under their belt, plus guard Johnson and forward Pomare as two of the best players in the conference on their home floor, a nationally televised court-storming is brewing.

SAN DIEGO, 72-64.

CBB TKO Blowout of the Week! *4-0 Weekend Sweep!*

I'm laying the points with the Hoyas on Monday. The normally defensively sound Hoyas looked anything but that in their Saturday loss at Syracuse. They looked a step behind on the defensive end and paid for it with two players fouling out, leading to a huge disadvantage at the charity stripe. It's a Georgetown team that leads the nation in FG percentage allowed, and they hold the opposition to UNDER 20 made FGs per game. They'll be at their most intense following the poor performance. The Hoyas are a perfect 3-0 SU after a loss this season, winning by an average of 16 PPG! And, they'll face a Providence squad that's on a 1-7 SU slide. In their seven losses surrounding a win over Depaul, the Friars are giving up a hefty 77.6 PPG! Look for Georgetown to bounce back with a double-digit win on Monday afternoon (4pm ET start).

Georgetown -5 at PROVIDENCE

A loser on Notre Dame yesterday as they win but fail to cover the number against Rutgers.

Take Georgetown as the road chalk this afternoon over Providence.

Georgetown certainly hasn't been playing all that well recently. The Hoyas have lost two of their last three and have failed to cover their last five against the line.

But I think Saturday's loss at Syracuse is the wake up call this team needed heading into today's matchup with Providence.

The Friars could be in for a long game today, as they don't have the defense capable of slowing Georgetown's deliberate attack. Providence has given up 80 and 82 points in its last two games, both losses, to Louisville and Pitt.

Look for Georgetown to establish the inside game early with Roy Hibbert and to frustrate the Friars with their lock-down defense on the other end.

Take Georgetown minus the points as they grab the road win and cover.

Chris Jordan

Xavier -2' at RHODE ISLAND

A very strange matchup indeed, and I think the oddsmakers are begging you to play the underdog in this one, hoping everyone falls for the trap on Rhode Island. The thing is, while the Rams seem to be okay for an at-large bid, and no doubt would lock it up by scoring a 3-0 sweep this week, I believe the Musketeers would love nothing more than to worsen Rhode Island’s potential seeding – while enhancing their own – with a win this Atlantic 10 clash. The oddsmakers may be the enemy, but they’re not that far off when the lines are this tight.

The Musketeers, who are 9-1 in conference play, outscore their opponents by an average margin of 15 points, and clearly have the better defense - allowing 62.7 points per game, versus Rhode Island’s 71.8. The road team holds the 7-3 ATS edge in this series, and with the Rams losing two of its last three – albeit all three were on the highway – I believe the bookies got it right with the chalk here, and will lay it against the trap. Play Xavier, and expect a five-point win to be the difference.

LaSalle +13 at ST. JOSEPH'S

The SGH brings a 105-83-4 comp play record into Monday night's action.

Tonight we go to Hawk Hill, and take the points with the LaSalle Explorers in their city-series battle with St. Joseph's.

The Hawks demolished the Explorers the last time these schools met, 72-50 last February to make it 8 straight series wins, and 6 straight series covers. We believe tonight is the night LaSalle at least makes a dent in the against the spread run the Hawks are on, as the Explorers have gone a righteous 8-0-1 against the spread away from home this season, and they are 6-6 straight up away from their home hardwood.

LaSalle has proven to be "road warriors", as they are currently on a 26-10-2 spread run their last 38 against the spread on the road.

No doubt St. Joe's should grab the outright, but after being outclassed by 22 points in the last meeting, expect the Explorers to show some pride in this inner-city clash, and stay inside of the double digit impost.

Play on LaSalle.

Karl Garrett

Texas A&M +4' at TEXAS

The G-Man is on a 24-16 comp play run my last 40 releases.

Tonight I will take the points and look for Texas A&M to give Texas all they can handle. I know Texas treated me to a 50 Dime winner on Saturday, but the way they closed that game has me a little leary of laying a couple of baskets tonight against a capable A&M edition, even in Austin.

The Aggies were stunned at home on Saturday by Oklahoma State, snapping a 5-game winning streak. Still, A&M has won and covered their last 3 on the conference road, and they are 20-8 overall their last 28 against the spread on the highway.

Texas enters riding a 5-game winning streak, and they have also won 8 of their last 9 straight up, but their uptick has this number a little inflated in the G-Man's mind.

Texas A&M drilled the Longhorns 80-63 at the end of January, and they have covered in 6 of the last 8 meetings.

Grab the points and roll with the Aggies!

Bobby Maxwell

Gonzaga at SAN DIEGO +8

We swept the weekend with three FREE winners on the college hardwood and we've got a fourth in a row tonight as we go with San Diego at home as the Torreros host Gonzaga.

Watch out for San Diego in this one. The Torreros have won seven straight games and this teams has risen up in the biggest games this season.

San Diego went to Kentucky and got the shocking outright win over the Wildcats early in the season. The Torreros went to Gonzaga on Jan. 19 and lost 80-70 but got the cash as 17 1/2-point underdogs. They welcomed a ranked St. Mary's team to San Diego on Jan. 28 and scored a 63-55 win as seven-point underdogs.

Just when this team is faced with a huge challenge, it rises to shock the favorite.

San Diego is 6-2 ATS in its last eight games, and on the home court they allow just 58.2 points a game and limit the opposition to 41 percent shooting. Look for a hard-fought game tonight in San Diego and a pumped up crowd trying to get the Torreros a win.

San Diego is getting way too many points tonight. We've got to put our money behind them. The Torreros get the cash in this one.

Georgetown @ Providence

Take "Under" Providence’s offense has cooled off, averaging 66 points the last three games. It doesn’t help a struggling offense to face this monster Georgetown defense, one allowing 57 points per game and just 36% shooting. The Hoyas are tuning up their defense for tournament play, on a 7-1 run under the total. For the season Georgetown is 15-6 under the total, and they are 9-2 under on the road. Defense takes center court in this Big East battle

Georgetown @ Providence

The Welsh watch is on at Providence. The Friars have had injury problems, but their inability to win big games continues to be a big problem and the buzz is getting stronger that there will be a shakeup at season's end. PC seems discouraged right now and with Georgetown off a loss, the Friars appear up against it tonight.

VEGAS EXPERTS TIP OF THE DAY

Xavier Musketeers at Rhode Island Rams

Xavier is 9-1 in A-10 play with its one loss in Conference coming at Temple before the current seven-game win streak began. Before that the Musketeers won six in a row so that's 13-of-14 in the win column versus a team that's lost two-of-three. All were close with the Rams losing at Massachusetts 78-76, winning at home over Fordham 65-63 and losing at Temple 92-89. Xavier has played close games of late as well, escaping with wins at St. Louis (70-68), at home versus St. Joe's (76-72) and at Charlotte (62-60). It comes in with revenge in this one having lost 79-71 to Rhode Island in the semifinals of last season's conference tournament. The Musketeers have won 12 straight regular season meetings with the Rams, including the last five in Kingston.

Re: Monday Service Plays

Nelly

Louisville - over Syracuse

Syracuse used a big first half to knock off Georgetown on Saturday but it will be very tough to take on a Louisville team that is rolling in a quick-turnaround. Syracuse needed to come up with the upset of Georgetown following a costly loss at South Florida and the Orange put together a great performance but matching that energy on the road will be difficult. Louisville endured a battle on Saturday in Providence but in the end the Cardinals prevailed, making for five consecutive S/U and ATS wins. Louisville is 12-2 on the season at home and Syracuse has not shown consistency on offense this season. Louisville is ready to deliver a lopsided win as Syracuse is simply not in the same class as the Cardinals this season.

Great Lakes

Texas A&M at Texas

The Longhornes are heating up down the stretch going 5-0 ATS their last five games, and are 6-3 ATS after a conference game this year. The Longhornes are also 10-2 ATS revenging a road loss vs an opponent the last three years, and 5-2 ATS after scoring 80 points or more this year. We look for the Texas Loghornes to dismantle the Texas A&M Aggies for the home ATS Win & cover tonight.

Alex Smart

Game: Portland U vs. San Francisco
Prediction: San Francisco

Both San Francisco(8-18) and Portland(6-19) are going through a lot of growing pains with a young team in rebuilding years. The records are similar as are some of their overall numbers , and when these squads met back on Jan 19th the visiting Dons pulled off a hard fought closely contested 60-59 win over the Pilots, as 4.5 point dogs. Home floor advantage did not help Portland in that spot, and here on the road, another loss , with a more pronounced deficit will be on the agenda. Final notes & Key Trends: Portland has failed to cover 11 of their L12 revenge situations losing SU, by an average of 13.4 PPG. Play on the San Francisco Dons to bring home the cash

Texas is 19-10 ATS their last 29 conference games and they are 12-1 ATS after winning 15 or more of their last 20 games. The Longhorns are 10-2 ATS their last 12 games when playing with road loss revenge and they are 12-3 ATS off 2 straight conference wins. Texas A&M has won just once in their last 10 visits to Austin. The road team is 2-9-1 ATS the last 12 meetings. PLAY ON TEXAS -

Marc Lawrence

Game: Texas A&M at Texas
Prediction: Texas

Note: Life at home has been heavenly for the Longhorns. Off their most recent upset win over Kansas, Texas now stands 87-6 SU in its last 93 games in Austin. And as badly as they wanted the victory over the Jayhawks they will want this ?W? against the Aggies. That?s because the 17-point loss they suffered earlier this year at College Station was their worst of the season. It doesn?t hurt knowing they are 5-1 ATS at home with same season double-digit loss revenge since 1990. Nor the fact that A&M is a puny 2-15 ATS as a dog in games they lose straight-up against foes with same season revenge. In this battle of cattle, we?ll saddle up with the Horns. KEY STAT: Texas is 4-0 SU & ATS with revenge against Texas A&M.

Jimmy The Moose

Game: Detroit Red Wings at Colorado Avalanche
Prediction: Detroit Red Wings

Reason: The struggling Wings have lost 6 straight games but tonight the losing streak ends. Detroit is 11-4 in their last 15 road games. In their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning home record the Wings are 8-3. The Wings are 4-1 in their last 5 games played with 0 day rest. Colorado has dropped 5 of their last 6 home games. The Avalanche are 5-13 in their last 18 games vs. Western Conference opponents. Detroit has won 6 of their last 7 trips to Colorado. The Wings are 21-8 in the last 29 meetings between the clubs. Play on the Detroit Red Wings -.

Cajun Sports CBB

Game: Texas A&M vs. Texas

Time: 9:00 PM EST

Line: Texas -4

Rating: TWO-Star

Selection: TEXAS LONGHORNS -4

Analysis

Some series are dominated by the home team and this series happens to be one of them. The home team in this series has won the last eight straight meetings and has posted a 6-2 against the spread mark during this run. A&M held serve in College Station back on Jan. 30th as they trounced the Horns 80 to 63. A&M shot 56.3% from the field while Texas shot a horrible 34.4%. The story was the same from behind the arc as A&M shot 53.8% and Texas was only able to hit 30.8% from three point land. Since that loss the Longhorns have reeled off 5 straight wins both SU and ATS included in those five wins are Baylor twice, at Iowa State, at Oklahoma and of course their huge win over Kansas. A&M enters this contest off a home loss to Oklahoma State 59 to 54 as a 12.5 point home favorite on Saturday. A&M had their confidence shaken on Saturday and Austin is not the place to try and regain it. The Longhorns will be looking to avenge that double-digit loss in College Station and we know that the Horns are 5-1 ATS in that role. Texas is also a perfect 4-0 both SU and ATS playing with revenge versus Texas A&M their last four times to post. Finally we know that Coach Barnes is 26-14 ATS playing at home versus teams who are outscoring their opponents by 12+ points per game on the season. Hook'em HORNS

Re: Monday Service Plays

Matt Fargo

Wofford vs. Furman
Play: Furman

Wofford comes in after suffering back-to-back-to-back losses for the first time since mid-January. The Terriers are now 7-9 in the conference which is pretty below average considering some of the losses it has sustained. Wofford is 9-5 at home but only 4-7 on the road and now it is actually a road chalk for just the second time this season. The first came at The Citadel where the Terriers were favored by seven point and snuck out with a four-point victory over the 316th ranked team in the nation.

Furman is powerhouse but it is no Citadel either. The Paladins are coming off a blowout loss at Davidson but a return home can cure that. They have won three of their last four games at home including victories against NC-Greensboro and Charleston. Furman has six losses at home including defeats to Georgia Southern, Chattanooga, Davidson and Appalachian St. Those four teams comprise the top four teams in the entire conference so losses to them are not surprising at all.

Wofford is not a good team offensively and that is a huge edge for the Paladins. Furman is 0-13 when allowing its opponents to score 70 or more points, but 5-7 when holding the opposition below 70 points. The Terriers are averaging 64.4 ppg on the season including 62.9 ppg on 41.1 percent shooting on the road. Wofford has scored more than 70 points only once in its last seven games and just three times in its 11 road games. After allowing 77 ppg in its first 11 games, Furman has allowed only 68.1 ppg in its last 14 games.

This is the final home game this season for Furman and that always plays a big role for teams late in the season especially when there is no chance of another home contest come postseason time. To add even more incentive to the mix, the Paladins surely have not forgotten the first meeting this season as the Terriers blasted Furman 75-42 earlier this month. Furman was outshot by 28.3 percent from the floor including an unheard of 51.1 percent from three-point land.

The revenge factor also brings a spectacular situation into play. Play on underdogs of 3.5 to 9.5 points that are revenging a road blowout loss of 30 points or more and have a losing record on the season. This situation is 37-12 ATS (75.5 percent) over the last five seasons. The offensive struggles of Wofford have been contagious as it is 11-25 ATS in its last 26 games after scoring 30 points or less in the first half in two straight games. The home team have covered five of the last seven meetings as well.
