SOUTH ALABAMA

Lay the big number with South Alabama this afternoon when they host Denver.

This should be an easy win for the Jaguars, who are undefeated on their home court this year while the Pioneers have yet to win a road game.

It should also help South Alabama that Denver is playing without injured forward David Kummer, who is out for the season with an ankle injury.

The Pioneers could ill-afford to lose anybody, since they have a thin bench and usually go with only a six- or seven-man rotation. But the loss of Kummer really hurts because he was the teams’ leading scorer.

South Alabama is expected to challenge for the conference title and they are led by dynamic guard Demetric Bennett, who likes to gun from 3-point land and hits at a high percentage from there. The Jaguars have the advantage in the rebounding department as well, with DeAndre Coleman cleaning the glass at just under 10 rebounds per game.

South Alabama has won and covered two of the last three in this series, and the Jaguars are currently on a 9-4 ATS run in their last 13 games overall.

The favorite is on a 9-1 ATS run in the last 10 meetings between these two.

Take Miami as the tiny home dog today over Clemson.

Clemson looks like a team ready to repeat last season’s fall, when they went from a 17-0 start straight to an NIT invite.

It seems like when conference play starts the Tigers lose their stripes.

Miami is perfectly capable of defending its home court today. The Hurricanes are off to a surprising start, although they did play a pretty weak non-conference schedule.

But they did that to build some confidence, as Miami had been the whipping boy since it joined the ACC.

Now that they have some wins under their belts, the Hurricane players know what it takes to pull a game off. They have many scoring options with their starting five, which will make it difficult for Clemson to lock down on one specific player.

Duke is in the midst of a run where they?ve won four straight ACC games by an average of 14 points. I think emotion will count for something in this game, but it won?t be enough to offset Duke?s talent, depth, and the fact that they get all the calls. I think the week off has stunted Maryland's momentum and I don't see them shooting the ball well enough to win this game. Duke makes its free throws, UM doesn't, so if it is a nip-and-tuck game going down the final five minutes I think we have the edge.
