Officials from Richard Childress Racing and Kevin Harvick Inc. announced Monday that the two teams would expand their Busch Series relationship heading into the 2008 season.

RCR supplies engines to KHI's two-car Busch team, but with RCR set to add a fourth Nextel Cup team next year, KHI will take "more active role in this increased technical alliance with regard to testing, aerodynamics, suspension and chassis," a news release said.

"The goal of this increased relationship is to make both programs stronger," RCR owner Richard Childress said in a statement. "Our plan is to field a fourth NASCAR Nextel Cup Series team for 2008, so we're going to work more closely with KHI on the Busch side. Kevin and [wife] DeLana have put together a very good program, and I have all the confidence in the world that we're going to have a better overall program than what we have already."

RCR is the defending Busch Series champion, with Harvick winning the title last year in its No. 21 Chevrolet. RCR has 45 victories in the Busch Series, including 29 by Harvick.

KHI has earned three victories in the Busch Series and seven in the Craftsman Truck Series. Harvick drives RCR's No. 29 Chevrolet in Nextel Cup.

"Richard has been very supportive of everything DeLana and I have attempted to do here at KHI," Harvick said. "As he goes forward with the planned expansion of his Cup program, I believe this partnership will continue to build on the success we have both enjoyed in the Busch Series."

RCR currently fields two full-time Busch teams - the No. 29 and No. 21, which both use multiple drivers - and the part-time No. 2 team. KHI fields the No. 33 and No. 77 teams in the Busch Series, both also with multiple drivers.
