CLOSE CALL

Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 36 shots, helping Anaheim beat Detroit 2-1 on Sunday to take a 3-2 series lead in the Western Conference finals. Giguere improved to 12-1 after regulation in the playoffs.

ONE TO GO

Anaheim can advance to its second Stanley Cup finals appearance with a win at home Tuesday night after a 2-1 overtime win over the Red Wings on Sunday. If Game 7 is necessary, it will be played Thursday night in Detroit. Eastern Conference champion Ottawa, which eliminated Buffalo on Saturday, awaits the winner.

SPEAKING

''That's hockey. But when that break goes our way, we don't overanalyze that. We just take the break. When it goes against you, I don't think you want to spend a whole lot of time analyzing that.'' - Detroit coach Mike Babcock after Anaheim's 2-1 overtime win over the Red Wings on Sunday. The Ducks tied the score at 1 with 47.3 seconds left in regulation on a goal that deflected off Detroit defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom's stick.
