Moscow, Russia (Sports Network) - Rick Nash scored two goals as Canada captured the gold medal at the 2007 World Hockey Championship after a 4-2 victory over Finland on Sunday.

Eric Staal and Colby Armstrong also tallied goals for Team Canada, which won its third gold medal in the last five years at the World Hockey Championships.

Cam Ward was solid between the pipes with 20 saves for the Canadians, who went undefeated at the tournament for the first time since 2003.

The victory also gave Canada its 24th overall IIHF World Championship gold medal.

Petri Kontiola and Antti Miettinen scored in the loss for Finland, which ended with the silver medal and has lost five international gold medal games since winning its only World Championship gold in 1995.

Goaltender Kari Lehtonen finished with 14 saves on 18 shots for the Finns, who advanced to the gold medal game after stunning Russia with a 2-1 overtime victory on Saturday.

Nash and Staal tallied power-play goals in the first period to give Team Canada a 2-0 lead after the opening frame.

In the second stanza, Armstrong scored at even strength as Canada increased its lead to 3-0 heading into the third period.

Finland came alive in the third and pulled to within a goal after Kontiola and Miettinen scored, but Nash iced things after his second goal of the contest made it 4-2 with just over one minute remaining.

After finishing with six goals overall in the tournament, Nash was named the most valuable player.

This was the first meeting between Canada and Finland in an IIHF World Championship gold medal game since 1994, when the Canadians also came out on top.
