Miami guard Clemente suspended for season
Wed, Feb 28, 2007
By Associated Press
CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- The University of Miami's basketball team will lose its second player this month because of behavior problems.
Point guard Denis Clemente has been suspended for the rest of the season for violating an undisclosed team rule, coach Frank Haith said. The story was reported by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
''Here at the University of Miami we hold our players to certain standards and expect them to abide by policies set by both our university and this basketball program,'' Haith said. ''Denis chose to break those rules and will be held accountable for his actions.''
Clemente averages 9.8 points and 3.3 assists. He had started 15 of the 27 games he played in this season. This is the second time Clemente has been punished by Haith. He missed the season-opener for violating a team policy.
Earlier this month, forward Raymond Hicks was suspended indefinitely for an unspecified violation of team rules.
