UFC On FOX 9 will take place from Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California with the main card bouts airing live on the new FOX at 8PM ET on Saturday.
The main event of Saturday’s card is a bout for the UFC Flyweight Championship with Joseph Benavidez (19-3) challenging the champion, Demetrious Johnson (18-2-1). According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Johnson is favored to retain his title, as he has odds of -140 to win, while Benavidez has a money line of +110 to prevail. These two fought for the inaugural title in September of 2012 with Johnson getting a split decision. The two are very evenly matched, as both push a tremendous pace, have some power in their hands, and can grapple. There will be a few situations in the fight that will determine the winner, but expect it to be competitive throughout.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card is a bantamweight bout between Urijah Faber (29-6) and Michael McDonald (16-2). According to oddsmakers, Faber is the favorite in the fight, as they have odds of -155 to win, while McDonald has a money line of +125 to prevail. Faber has won three straight entering this fight, two coming by submission. McDonald is coming off a submission win since losing a title fight to Renan Barao. McDonald is more known for his punching power, as he has nine KO victories, while Faber is more of a grappling wizard, with 16 of his 29 wins coming by submission. The key to this fight will be starting fast, since it is only three rounds, and who is able to dictate where the fight takes place.
