Manny Pacquiao Odds
ARLINGTON, TX - Millions of people had their fingers crossed a couple of different times this year for a battle between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Instead everyone will get a different intriguing showdown which will pit Pacquiao against Antonio Margarito for the vacant WBC Welterweight title. This fight will take place from Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Pay Per-View.
Both Pacquiao's and Mayweather Jr.'s camps blamed the other one at various times for everything falling through in what was billed as one of the potentially biggest fights of all-time, but the fact of the matter right now is that Pacquiao has himself another boxing fight while Mayweather Jr.’s current fight is instead happening within the legal system. Pacquiao’s 12-match winning streak, put together against some top-flight boxers including Oscar De La Hoya and Miguel Cotto, will once against be put on the line versus Antonio Margarito.
Pacquiao enters Saturday night’s fight as the clear favorite of -400. Perhaps knowing that he is the clear-cut favorite could be a hindrance, but Pacquiao has proven to be a focused fighter every time he steps into the ring. He still feels he has unfinished business in the ring, not to mention his legendary status among Filipinos leaves Pacquiao always working towards making his country proud. Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have listed Pacquiao as a -400 favorite for the fight. Here is a look at Pacquiao’s strengths and focuses and how it factors into the fight.
Manny Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KO’s)
Strengths: Pacquiao has done the unimaginable in his professional career, winning nine different title belts in seven different classes. He is the only boxer to ever accomplish that feat. It is clear that he is capable of boxing at a very high level as high as Welterweight, so as he tries to add another notch in his crown with a Super Welterweight title it is difficult to imagine he will have trouble with another step up in weight class. Pacquiao has some of the best hand speed in the business and it might be as fast of hands as Margarito has ever seen.
Weaknesses: There are really no secrets to Pacquiao’s attack. Rarely has an opponent put together a strong enough gameplan to challenge that, but if Margarito can figure out some dents in Pacquiao’s armor it could potentially leave some areas open for attack.
