UFC 137 places from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card airs live on PPV at 9PM ET. Here are three picks to consider for tonight’s card.

UFC Welterweight Bout – B.J. Penn (16-7-2) vs. Nick Diaz (26-7-1)

Both fighters are scrappers that will leave everything in the octagon, but this fight favors Penn in my eyes. Diaz has a long reach and perhaps a slight boxing edge on Penn, but Penn shouldn’t have much trouble getting the fight to the ground if he needs to. This is a big step up in competition for Diaz as well, who is making his return to the octagon for the first time in five years. Look for Penn to squeak out a decision. FREE PICK – B.J. Penn -125

UFC Heavyweight Bout – Matt Mitrione (5-0) vs. Cheick Kongo (26-6-2)

Kongo is a big and powerful striker, but he is a bit stiff on his feet. Mitrione is the bigger fighter and probably the better striker in terms of technique and footwork. I see Mitrione being able to pepper Kongo with his boxing and avoiding takedowns. Mitrione is good at taking a punch, which should keep Kongo from landing a lucky one-punch knockout. I will take Mitrione by decision. FREE PICK – Matt Mitrione -140

UFC Featherweight Bout – Tyson Griffin (15-5) vs. Bart Palaszewski (35-14)

This is a fight where I like the underdog. Both fighters are grinders that rely on a good mix of striking and grappling to win. Palaszewski has beat some of the top lightweights in the UFC now and is making the drop down to 145 where he will have a size edge on most guys. Griffin is also a former lightweight making a drop down, but he failed to make weight for the fight, which means he has to be really drown out and that tends to mage fighters sluggish come fight night. Look for Palaszewski to push the pace and beat Griffin by decision. FREE PICK – Bart Palaszewski +240
