Mayweather vs. Alvarez Odds
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – Floyd Mayweather Jr. faces arguably his toughest challenge yet when he takes on Saul Alvarez next Saturday. Here is a look at the odds for this bout.
This fight will take place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and air live on PPV on Saturday, Sept. 14. The WBA (Super) Light Middleweight title and WBC & The Ring Light Middleweight titles will be on the line.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Mayweather Jr. is the favorite to win this bout, as he has odds of -280 to win, while Alvarez has a money line of +220 to prevail.
Mayweather comes into the bout at 44-0 with 26 knockouts. He has bounced around divisions over the last few years. He defeated Miguel Cotto at Light Middleweight in May of 2005. Mayweather has won four of his last five fights by unanimous decision, as he is typically a counter puncher that uses his speed to pick opponents apart.
Like Mayweather, Alvarez is unbeaten. His record is 42-0 and he has competed in the division for quite some time, beating the likes of Shane Mosley in the process. Alvarez has scored knockouts in four of his last six fights and he will come into the fight as the power puncher. The key will be if his speed can beat Mayweather to the punch. This is also the biggest fight of his career, which could lead to some nervousness.
