Browne enters UFC 130 as the slight favorite to win this contest according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog.com as he has odds of -130 to win while Struve has a money line of +100. UFC 130 takes place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and will air live on Pay-Per-View at 9PM ET.
WHY PICK BROWNE
Browne (10-0-1) is unbeaten in his short MMA career with eight victories coming by knockout. He also has five wins that have come in under 1:00. He has big power in his punches and also has shown the ability to throw some powerful kicks. Browne is coming off a draw with Cheick Kongo, which was a big test in his early career. He showed he had the conditioning to go 15 minutes and still be able to challenge an experienced fighter like Kongo. Browne’s opponent, Struve, has struggled in the UFC with powerful strikers, losing in under a minute to both Roy Nelson and Junior dos Santos.
WHY PICK STRUVE
Stefan “Skyscraper” Struve (21-4) is a tough young fighter that stands 6-foot-11 and has a very long reach. He has used his size to keep opponents from getting inside him and also for some deadly triangle chokes. A submission specialist, Struve has 14 wins by submission in his career and he will have an overwhelming edge on Browne if this fight goes to the ground, even if Struve is on his back. Browne is somewhat of a quick knockout artist, so if Struve can survive the early storm, he has the potential to get the fight into his favor.
WHO TO PICK?
My pick for this bout goes with Browne as I think he is a promising star in the heavyweight division. Struve has not done well against explosive strikers because his length and lack of muscle keeps him from really being much of a takedown threat. I look for Brown to keep the fight standing and picking Struve apart as he earns a first round KO.
