Pacquiao looking for another victory
Saturday’s bout between Mosley and Pacquiao will be for the WBO Welterweight Championship and take place from the MGM Grand live on Pay-Per-View at 9PM ET.
Pacquiao enters the fight as the clear favorite according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog.com, as he has odds of -850 to win while Mosley comes in with odds of +550.
Pacquiao comes into this fight at 52-3-2 with 38 wins by knockout. The 32-year-old native of the Philippines is arguably the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world and is on a 13-fight win streak. Still looking to get that elusive super fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr., Pacquiao hopes to make a point by beating Mayweather’s last opponent worse than he did. Mosley managed to score a knockdown of Mayweather, so if Pacquiao can go unharmed, it will be an impressive showing.
Strengths: Pacquiao has had success at a number of weight classes and his hand speed has never seemed to suffer throughout all of the changes. Pacquiao has a nearly perfect combination of speed and power and he has used that power to score knockouts of Ricky Hatton and Oscar De La Hoya. Conditioning has also not been a problem for the champion, as he has had 14 decision victories in his career.
Weaknesses: Pacquiao has lost three times in his career, and two have been by knockout. Both occasions came when he had problems cutting weight, but they both were in early rounds and leave the question about his ability to take a clean punch. If Mosley connects on Pacquiao, does he have the chin to stay upright and continue to fight?
