Mayweather decisions Maidana

LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – Floyd Mayweather Jr. got a tougher challenge than many may have expected, but remained undefeated on Saturday with a decision win over Marcos Maidana.

This fight will tool place from the MGM Hotel & Carnio in Las Vegas, Nevada and was for the WBC, WBA and The Ring Welterweight championships on the line.

It was a competitive 12-round fight where Mayweather was able to implement his usual style of counter boxing, but Maidana showed some impressive moments as well. The challenger was able to land some flurries during the fight, perhaps contacting on more punches that Mayweather is accustomed to taking. However, it wasn’t enough, as Mayweather dictated the pace and landed more convincing combinations to win the fight on two of the judges’ scorecards. One judge had the bout a draw, but Mayweather still gets the win by majority decision.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Mayweather Jr. was the favorite to win this bout, as he had a money line of -1000 to win, which means a wager of $1,000 on Mayweather to win will pay out an additional $100.

Mayweather now improves to 46-0-0 in his career with 26 KOs. Maidana suffers his fourth defeat, falling to 35-4 with 31 Kos.
