Brilz vs. Matyushenko Free Pick
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog.com both fighters come into the bout with equal odds to win as Brilz and Matyushenko each have money lines of -115. UFC 129 takes place from the Rogers Centre and will air live on Pay-Per-View at 9PM ET.
WHY PICK BRILZ
Brilz (18-3) is a very unassuming fighter. He looks like a bit of a pushover, but he has taken some tough fighters to the limit, including Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, who he lost a split decision to at UFC 114 last May. Brilz has very strong grappling and submission skills and he would prefer to bring the fight to the ground. His opponent, Matyushenko, has struggled with wrestlers in the past and is more looking to land a big strike to end the fight.
WHY PICK MATYUSHENKO
Matyushenko (25-5) is an experienced veteran of MMA and he has had recent success, winning four of his last five with his lone loss coming at the hands of current champ, Jon Jones. Vlady likes to use his powerful hands to win fights, but he also has solid knees and elbows and under rated grappling skills. Matyushenko has beaten some of the opponents that have beaten Brilz, but he has lost a step over the years as age starts to take over.
WHO TO PICK?
This is a tough call and that is why the odds are even, but I think Brilz will show a relentless pursuit that will eventually win out. Brilz showed he can take a punch in his last fight and I don’t feel that Matyushenko will be able to keep off his back throughout the fight. My pick is with Brilz to win a decision.
