UFC 129 Betting Odds
TORONTO, ON (TheSpread) – Two UFC championships will be on the line when the UFC 129 takes place this Saturday from the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
UFC 129 takes place this Saturday night and the main card will air live on Pay-Per-View at 9PM ET while seven preliminary bouts will air at 6PM ET on Facebook and Spike TV. The card has a total of 12 bouts with the two main events each featuring a championship on the line.
The main event of Saturday’s card is a showdown for the UFC Welterweight Championship as Georges St. Pierre (21-2) defends his title against Jake Shields (26-4-1). The champion comes in as the clear favorite according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog.com as he has odds of -500 to retain the title while Shields has odds of +300. Shields hasn’t lost a fight since 2004, and he is currently on a 15-fight win streak. St. Pierre is on an eight-fight win streak and he hasn’t been beaten since 2007. GSP will have a clear edge in terms of striking but Shields is probably the best grappler he has ever faced.
The co-main event for Saturday’s card features a UFC Featherweight Championship bout where champion Jose Aldo (18-1) is defending his title against Mark Hominick (20-8). Aldo is riding an 11-fight win streak that dates back to 2006. The champion is making his UFC debut in this fight against Hominick, who has won five straight. Aldo is a big favorite in this fight as well, as he has odds of -550 against Hominick, who has odds of +350. Aldo is a complete striker but facing a technically sound boxer in Hominick, who has one-punch power. That fight should be explosive.
