Mayweather vs. Cotto Odds
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – Floyd Mayweather Jr. returns to the boxing ring next Saturday when he faces Miguel Cotto for the WBA Super Light Middleweight Title.
Mayweather Jr. (42-0-0) takes on Cotto (37-2-0) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The fight will air live on HBO PPV.
According to oddsmakers, Mayweather Jr. is the clear favorite to win this fight, as he has a money line of -700 to win the title fight, while Cotto comes in with odds of +450 to prevail The over/under total for rounds has been set at 9.5.
Mayweather remains unbeaten in his career and is largely considered the top boxer in the world regardless of weight class. He is coming off a fourth-round KO of Victor Ortiz in his last bout back in September. Fans are still clamoring for a bout between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, but both seem to be content with fighting lesser-known opponents. Mayweather is expected to have a clear speed edge in the fight, but he may be the smaller fighter, which likely means a little less power as well.
Cotto has 30 KO wins in his career and he is currently riding a three-fight win streak with his last win coming against Antonio Margarito, which avenged one of his two losses. His other loss came at the hands of Pacquiao, and it was by TKO in the 12th round. Cotto has had his last three wins come by TKO, but all have come in the later rounds, taking place in the ninth round or later.
