Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley Odds
SAN DIEGO, CA (TheSpread) – Two Strikeforce championships will be up for grabs when the promotion presents Diaz vs. Daley on Saturday from the Valley View Casino Center.
Strikeforce takes place this Saturday night and the main card will air live on Showtime at 10PM ET. This card has four featured bouts with two title fights.
The main event is for the Strikeforce Welterweight Championship as champion Nick Diaz defends his title against Paul Daley. According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog.com Diaz is the favorite with odds of -225 while Daley has odds of +185. Both men are former UFC fighters that were at one time top contenders in that promotion and now find themselves fighting for the Strikeforce title. Diaz (24-7) finds himself on a nine-fight win streak, having won all but one of those nine fights by stoppage. Daley (27-9-2) has won his last four fights, including his last two by first round KO. The outcome of this fight should largely depend on where it takes place. If it stays standing, Daley has the edge. If the fight goes to the ground, Diaz should be able to get the victory.
The co-main event for Saturday’s card is for the Strikeforce Lightweight Championship where champion Gilbert Melendez takes on challenger Tatsuya Kawajiri. Melendez is favored to win with odds of -265 while Kawajiri has odds of +205. Melendez (18-2) has won his last four fights and his boxing ability is some of the best of any lightweight in MMA. Kawajiri (27-6-2) has established himself overseas in Pride, Dream, and K-1. He has never fought inside a cage, which could be a factor and his most recent loss was to Shinya Aoki, who Melendez beat in his last title defense.
