Hendricks wins UFC title
The main event of Saturday’s card was a battle for the UFC Welterweight Championship with Hendricks (16-2) edging Lawler (22-10). Hendricks started fast, winning the first two rounds with superior striking. In the third and fourth rounds, Lawler came back strong, hitting some big punches that staggered Hendricks. The fight came down to the final round, where Hendricks turned it on over the final 90 seconds to secure the win in the judges’ eyes. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Hendricks was the favorite to win, as he had odds of -400 to prevail, which means a wager of $400 on him to win will payout an additional $100.
The co-main event of Saturday’s card saw Tyron Woodley (13-2) pick up a TKO win over Carlos Condit (29-8) when Condit suffered a knee injury in the second round. Woodley had actually won the opening round with powerful striking and takedowns, but he began to fatigue entering the second round. Condit was looking stronger, but got his knee tied up in a takedown. He clearly was in pain but attempted to fight on. Later, when the two were standing, Condit attempted to spin on the injured leg and his knee gave out, forcing the stoppage from the refs. Oddsmakers had Woodley as the slight underdog, as he had odds of +150 to prevail, which means a wager of $100 on Woodley to win will pay out an additional $150.
