UFC 128 Betting Odds
NEWARK, NJ (TheSpread) – The UFC Light Heavyweight Championship is up for grabs during the main event of UFC 128. Here is a look at the odds for all the fights taking place this Saturday.
UFC 128 takes place from the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. and will air live on Pay Per View at 10PM ET. The card has a total of 12 bouts with the top five being featured on the PPV. The main event features Mauricio “Shogun” Rua defending his light heavyweight championship against rising star Jon Jones.
Despite being the champion, Rua enters the fight as the underdog according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog.com as he has betting odds of +160 while Jones comes in with odds of -200. This fight was originally scheduled to be Rua vs. Rashad Evans, but a knee injury forced Evans out and Jones (12-1) took the fight on six-weeks notice as he had just come off a dominant win over Ryan Bader back at UFC 126. Jones has just one loss in his career, which came by DQ, as no opponent has been able to figure out his mixture of muay thai and wrestling. Rua (19-4) hasn’t fought since winning the title in May of 2010 as he had knee surgery following the victory. He is a former PRIDE champion along with his current UFC title.
The co-main event for Saturday’s card features the UFC debut of Urijah Faber who squares off with Eddie Wineland. Faber comes into the fight as the clear favorite with odds of -500, while Wineland has odds of +300. Faber (24-4) is taking part in just his second fight at bantamweight, but he is a former WEC featherweight champion and a win on Saturday will likely earn him a UFC bantamweight title shot. Wineland (18-6-1) is a former WEC champion as well and he is currently on a four-fight win streak. A win over Faber could really thrust him into the title picture as well.
