Silva (18-6-1) hasn’t picked up a win in his last three fights but was just the No. 1 contender in the division in May of 2013. Mir (16-9) is a former heavyweight champion in the UFC, but he is riding a four-fight losing streak with two of the four losses by KO. Both men are big in size, but Silva is the bigger of the two.
The latest odds according to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv have Silva is favored to win the fight, as he is getting odds of -260 to win, while Mir has a money line of +200 to prevail. These two will meet in the main event of UFC Fight Night tonight in Brazil. The main card airs on Fox Sports 1 at 8PM ET.
Silva has the size to keep Mir standing, as Mir is a great submission fighter, but lacks the wrestling to get the fight to the ground. Mir has some striking ability, but he has really struggled in his career with fighters that are more physically imposing than him and can land big punches. This fight on paper looks to be another big KO loss for Mir as Silva will likely overwhelm him sometime in the five rounds.
UFC FIGHT NIGHT FREE PICK: Antonio Silva -260
