UFC 144 takes place Saturday night and the main card will air live on Pay-Per-View at 10PM ET. The event takes place from the Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo. Preliminary bouts will air live on FX at approximately 8PM ET.
The main event of UFC 144 is contest for the UFC Lightweight Championship with Frankie Edgar (14-1-1) defending his title against Ben Henderson (15-2). Oddsmakers see this as a very competitive fight with Edgar getting the slight edge. The champion has a money line of -130 to win this fight while Henderson has odds of +100 to win. Henderson is an all-around fighter that typically relies on his wrestling and grappling to win while Edgar is a quick and elusive striker that also mixes in some explosive takedowns. Edgar should have the edge when it comes to striking, but Henderson will be the bigger fighter and may be able to win the wrestling in the fight. How Henderson handles Edgar’s speed will be the key to this fight.
In the co-main event, light heavyweights Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (32-9) will take on Ryan Bader (13-2). Jackson is considered the favorite heading into the bout, as he has a money line of -245 while Bader has odds of +195 to prevail. Jackson has experience on his side, as he has fought many of the best in the world and succeeded while Bader has failed to achieve a win over a top-5 opponent. Jackson is a powerful striker with great takedown defense while Bader is primarily a grappler that tries to use his wrestling to control opponents. Bader will need to show improved striking to win while Jackson will need to keep the fight standing to win.
