Silva retains title in fashion
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – The UFC Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva, continued to show the MMA world why he is the best as he knocked out Vitor Belfort with a front kick at UFC 126.
In what was considered to be his greatest challenge to date, Silva (28-4) felt out Belfort (19-9) for the early stages of the fight and had a few striking exchanges before landing a devastating front kick to Belfort’s jaw that sent him crashing. Silva added a few punches on the ground to officially earn the knockout, but Belfort had little to no defense.
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com Silva had betting odds of -250 to win the fight, so a wager of $250 will pay out an additional $100.
In the co-main event, former light heavyweight champion and slight underdog, Forrest Griffin, earned a unanimous decision over former middleweight champion, Rich Franklin. Griffin easily won the first round with his grappling and managed to split the final two in a striking battle to pick up the win. Griffin had a betting line of +140 to win.
