According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Scott Frost is the 5/2 favorite to become the next head coach at Nebraska. Frost was a grad assistant at Nebraska after playing for the Cornhuskers for two years and is now Oregon’s offensive coordinator.
Continuing with the odds, former Rutgers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano is 15/4 to become the next head coach at Nebraska while Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman is 4/1. Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi is 9/2 and Colorado State head coach Jim McElwain is 5/1.
Two of the “long shots” are Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill, who is 13/2 to be Pelini’s replacement, while Utah State head coach Matt Wells is 7/1.
One name that isn’t listed among the odds but has been bantered about is former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel, who has been out of football since 2010. As of this writing there hasn’t been any indication that Tressel wants to return to coaching but he could be a dark horse candidate if Nebraska wants to make a splash hire.
