61% of bettors took the Green Bay Packers +7 Thursday Night in their NFC matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. That support was mis-aligned as Dallas easily covered the -7 point spread on their way to a 10 point victory over the Packers 37-27.
The Packers managed to keep it respectable even in light of Brett Favre having to leave the game with a shoulder injury. The big story of the night was the over/under. The total number of points was set at 51.5 by most online oddsmakers. Thursdays game blew that number out of the water and the Packers and Cowboys racked up 64 total points easily sending the game over. Most bettors expected a old style Texas sized shootout but few suspected it would go over by that much.
Dallas’ victory Thursday clinches then a guaranteed spot in the playoffs regardless of how they finish out the regular season. Green Bay should also make the playoffs easily dispite this loss.
Next up for Green Bay is Oakland, Dallas faces Detroit next week.
