PHILADELPHIA, PA (The Spread) – The public is hammering the Eagles tonight but there are plenty of trends that favor the Panthers in the Monday Night Football matchup at 8:30PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Eagles are 7-point home favorites over the Panthers, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 48.5 points. Philadelphia opened as 6-point home favorites but the line has jumped to 7, while the total opened at 48 and has climbed to 48.5 at most online and Vegas sports books.
Carolina enters play with a 3-5-1 record but is 5-4 against the spread this year, while the over is 5-4 in the Panthers’ nine games this season. As for Philly, the Eagles are 6-2 straight up and a profitable 5-3 at the betting window while the over is 5-3 in their eight games in 2014.
The Panthers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games in November, 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games after scoring less than 15 points in their previous game and 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game. They’re also 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games following an ATS loss, 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games versus NFC opponents and 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 games on grass.
On the other side, the Eagles are2-5 against the number in their last seven games after accumulating more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game, 2-5 ATS in their last seven games versus NFC opponents and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games versus a team with a losing road record.
Even though 64% of the public bets for tonight’s game are currently on the Eagles, be careful. Mark Sanchez hasn’t started a game since December of 2012 and despite their struggles this year, the Panthers still have a nasty front seven.
